Iran's always going to be held back by the fact that their domestic propulsion capabilities are complete ass. They're reasonably capable when it comes to solid fuel tech, but that's a hinderance to long-term growth just like it's been with India. All of their liquid fuel systems are late 50s Soviet hand-me-downs that were sold to Egypt, then smuggled to North Korea before finally getting traded to Iran. Their engines are small, inefficient, and only one generation removed from using nitric acid as an oxidizer.
Iran's best bet for reaching semi-domestic medium lift capability would be to buy engines from Russia. The Proton's production line shut down a few years ago, but since the Russians never get rid of anything all the tooling for the RD-275M should still be collecting dust in Perm, and selling engines isn't a deal they'd turn down.

Extended flight isn't the problem. You could leave it free flying in LEO for a few days, transfer crew to HLS, send another tanker to the moon to refill HLS in LLO, return to LEO propulsively, and transfer to Dragon... but that adds more required tanker flights with tighter scheduling and requires HLS to refill from a depot with crew on board. It's arguably WORSE than the SpaceX Mars conops because it involves HLShip and Dragon and involves like 30 total tanker launches.

What should we use to back Martian currency?
Oxygen tanks might be the ticket, like of like the old Chinese axe money.
But uranium or other fuels could also work, both would be necessary for life to continue.
However, that would unfairly benefit certain industries more than other sections that are also critical to colony operations.
The people who control the supply of these particular goods would have a political and economic stranglehold over everyone else.
Maybe instead we could just use proof of work certificates, a service "in-kind" system where the currency is backed by labor.
Essentially this would kind of fuse all these goods that have different but critical functions for the colony to survive into one unit of transaction, playing up to their different strengths in the economy.
One group guarantees they keep the lights on, and in exchange another guarantees the supply of oxygen flows and is not endangered. You get the idea, it doesn't end there because there are a lot of jobs to be done.

Here's how I see it playing out (assuming we continue at the rate of the last 5 years)
Initial Landings:
Probably some time in the mid 2030s, NASA is going to see the way the wind is blowing with starship and contract them to land American Astronauts on mars, before SpaceX can send private astronauts.
This is a win-win for both parties, the current administration gets to ride off of previous development time for a huge political gain. SpaceX gets guaranteed funding to carry out the mission. It is also a really bad PR move to let a private company undercut programs like MSR and Artemis program by landing people on mars, we are already seeing animosity of this type grow.
Initial Colonization: 2040s-2050s
It is tough to say how this will play out, whether it will be funded by the government or be fully private. I feel like space travel will be normalized by this point, so there wont be a public rejection of space travel like there was in the 70s (as long as there isn't a great depression 2 or something).
My prediction is a McMurdo station style research outpost, but with a modern NASA contracting structure. I.e. NASA gives seed money to commercial companies to develop aspects of mars colonization tech, and then buys lab time and accomodations for their scientists.
So really there will be two types of people on mars, the researchers, who are there to snort perchlorates or grow fungus or whatever, who are funded by grants through NASA/NSF. And then the support staff (at the very least medical and repair work) which is contracted via the commercial providers who actually built the base. And I'm sure there will be room for high paying tourists who will stay for 30 days and leave before the earth -> mars transfer window closes, just like what happens during the antarctic summers. All staff will be limited in how long they can stay due to radiation exposure (probably a limit of 2 hohman transfer windows unless appealed).

Long Term Colonization: 2080s+
I think the big difference between this and a research outpost is the idea that people will actually want to live there indefinetly. Once earth <-> mars logistics becomes easier, the barrier for entry will become low enough that people will actually want to homestead. I think property rights are going to play a big factor here. Look at westward expansion and how fast that happened vs how nobody is colonizing antarctica. Land ownership matters. Who knows how long this is going to take. It could be 200 years before it is easy enough for people to fully embrace living on another planet.
Terraforming: 200-500 years
The technology doesn't exist for this stuff yet, it took all of humanity 250 years to raise the temperature on earth 1deg C. There will be no will to improve things until enough people live there for it to matter. If innovation plateus, and we have to do it with modern technology, at least 500 years. But maybe we invent nanobots or genetically engineered bacteria which eat perchlorates and fart out CFCs and oxygen, who knows.

not too much. the training is an obvious and necessary part of space travel. the amount of training courses and certificates you get for all kinds of jobs is incredible...ive had all kinds of expensive training courses (first aid especially, several times and different levels) plus many different safety and operational courses) and that wasn't for anything as cool as space flight or getting signed off on how to use an EVA suit.
As for the bit about extra opportunities while there, that would really depend on your personal qualities, education etc. But, with a reduced population, it makes sense to maximize the use of every single person...plus, spare pairs of hands are always useful, even if its just for carrying stuff around at a new location.
Then, when you get back to earth, you're all of a sudden one of a very few that have been to mars and survived. its not going to be an easy thing for a long time, and if you prove that you're able to do your work, not cause trouble and not go nuts, like people who work a year in the antarctic for example, you've already shown a lot of good qualities. that looks good on a resume.

Keep in mind the thick atmosphere is 10km tall, and most of the air on the surface is already 'stuck' to the ground in the Planetary Boundary Layer, which is about 100m tall. I wouldn't expect it to have a ton of impact.

That is the nature of the model. It doesn't predict some things, but does predict others (Cosmic Microwave Background fluctuations, matter power spectrum, cosmology, lensing, galaxy clusters). MOND and QI can not predict these things at all.
Also MOND is an empirical prescription designed to fit rotation curves. Nothing was predicted a priori.
