why do almost all AVN (Adult Visual Novel) developers use Daz3D whilst simultaneously saying blender is superior? is it so much more user friendly that people choose it over an alternative they could produce better work with? I thought all 3D tools had basically the same interface

The reason so many people use DAZ is because there are literal decades of relatively high quality (better than game assets, at least) assets that are easily and freely pirateable. This allows thirdies with no skills to leech their way into a patreon gig without having to spend their entire food budget on 3d models.

just imagine if you, an american woth access to hundreds of dollars, spent a little of it on a high quality perv model rigged for lewds and with a design that all those "anatomy" models refuse to approach.

I've seen people porting DAZ assets and model to Blender... is it really feasible or it's too much work?

>use Daz3D whilst simultaneously saying blender is superior?
... because Daz Studio is mostly a character generator?

there are addons that bring over daz characters with rigs, materials etc.

Lack of knowledge and skill, laziness, etc. Even if you want to use Daz characters, you should at the very least import them to a decent software package, instead of settling with daz3d. Doing this would be an insignificant portion of the time used in a project as large as a game. There is 0 reason not to do it, and the project will likely take a longer time in total, than if you just put in the work to import the models to Maya, or even blender at the beginning instead.

You'll find that people who have productive lifestyles aren't salty about tools they don't have or don't know how to use being better than what they're working with.

Because Daz is basically an asset browser. Models from Daz have all the generic, boring technical parts already set up ( bone, weight painting, blend shape ... etc ), however they are encrypted into their esoteric format ( duf, dson .... etc ). If you are completely illiterate in 3D you would do your renders in Daz. But people just port it to Blender with Diffeomorphic add-on to further customize the model and render there.

A good chunk of model on smutba.se are just repurposed Daz model with a high res video game character face stitched onto a Daz body, in a .blend file

I'm making a WEG using DAZ Studio, but it's the first and last one. I did it more as an experiment, and it was well received in its first updates, but I'm working to finish it as soon as possible because DAZ Studio is not an appropriate program for this kind of thing. It's fine if you need to make one or two renders for something simple like, I don't know, an advertisement where you need human models or something like that, but that's it. Using the program to create a visual novel, with all the variety of renders and situations, is a total nightmare.
If I continue using these models in the future, it will be to work directly in Blender.

If you can tell the characters are from Daz, the developer is using Daz wrong.

Because Daz3D its only useful as a library and to flip assets, specially characters, its as close as a modeling 101 for retards. But for people that need to generate stuff from scratch or do anything else, its just pretty damn garbage. Blender is at least decent in all of the useful stuff and its free.
