Anyhow congratulations on your progress. What were the biggest hurdles so far? I've been doing 3D for about a month but spend more time animating than modeling. My biggest hurdle has been shading. I don't know how all the different components work and I haven't done a ton of UV mapping just yet.

my advice is to grind your 2D anime skills, because a lot of what makes anime feel anime, comes from a 2D mindset.
The other things are to learn to measure stuff in drawings, this is just 2D fundamentals.
The other thing would be to learn to make shaders, and learn post processing tricks.
Shaders and post processing can take your normal renders into looking like magic.
Also, learn color grading, it helps a lot for the last polish step.
