Dear Blender users and devs,
Catmull-Clark subdivision surfaces with supporting edge loops is not a alternative to chamfered edges. Not all smooth corners are the same. You "bevel" tool shits the bed on just about anything more complicated than your default cube. Your Booleans only work 70% of the time at best, even for simple object. This is not a way to live, and you should feel shameful.

sounds like a skill issue

Also true, for example booleans sometimes don't work because of wrong normal directions or holes in geometry. Not so often applicable but when there is a lot going on in the extruded mesh, try generating convex hull and boolean that instead. Or sometimes it makes sense to separate parts of the mesh and convex hull them individually, when global convex hull is not applicable.

its always cracks me up zbrush booleans are perfect since they a just a visual trick, yet when you accept and they get calculated they work well

that being generous, you have that boomer Howard_Trickey working on it so we will have to wait at least till 2026, any shit more advanced like soft booleans like Houdini does is out of the scope.

He just worte the design he is not even working on the Boolean Fast Mode Refactor, it is done by a guy with leukemia, Germano Cavalcante, so we maybe don't get that neither.

anyone with the skill to fix blender's many problems doubtless has an income high enough that they can just use professional tools rather than waste their life on hobbyware

I hope things get better. I've been using blender for 3 years and every year things are getting better.
