Hello, im 22 years old and im trying to become a concept artist. Alot of it mentions "experience in 3D programs" but im not sure what that entails exactly. Does it mean i need to be able to make 3D models for the company or need to know materials or something? Because if by experience just means using the program before, i guess i could say yes, but it dont think it answers the thing its asking. is there something i need to know before hand?i am trying to know everything about i can about this job so nothing goes wrong so any answers are appreciated
also, are things like picrel traced over 3D models? because at this point im not sure, i practice drawing by making up naked bodies in alot of different angles and poses as practice

Concept artists use every tool to his disposal for their work, 2d , photo bashing, 3d overpaints. Its up to you, but 3d it's really helpful. Keep in mind that I'm not a concept artists, I'm an art director.

Is there a resource or book I can buy or get that would help me feel confident in being able to know what I need to know for making concept art of characters?
A lot of videos on YouTube are really vague about what you need to know to make a design.

The thing about concept art is that you need to know more than to use Photoshop or 3d, concept art is design and function, try to start working on your drawing and photo bashing skills but also start creating designs that people want to play with.
