the original purpose of the request area was to give point rewards and encourage leakers to post some assets, like maybe if you get 50k points you could actually buy a 20 buck asset to leak it there was always this common courtesy thing to post the asset on the public archive right after the request got full-filled, and still like 90% of full-filled requests do get posted, but a small share of desirable coomer assets take a long fucking time to get shared and get re-requested to get even more point

What is the right option for those who want to animate models?
I've tried Cascadeur, it's a good program and it's very intuitive to create animations in it, but to migrate the animation to DAZ Studio afterwards you need the paid version of the program. And there's the whole problem of DAZ with hair, clothes, etc., not coping well with animations. The lack of physics in DAZ is also critical.
Should I just learn to use Blender?

I've only done basic things in Cascadeur but it seemed very good for animations and even poses. It has an interesting thing that looks like what you see in video games, where it applies physics to the models during interpolation. The model kind of tries to balance itself during movement, as if it were a physics-based game.
But the good thing is that you can import a Genesis 8 or 9 model without having to do anything, so it's super easy to put a basic model in there and start posing it, or animating it. The problem is that to export the result to DAZ again, you need to pay for the program to unlock the “export to DAZ” option.

I've managed to import models with extra things, for example with “breastacular” instead of the model's normal boobs, but the extra things aren't recognized automatically, so you'll have to rig these things.
I think the right way to work with the program is to use a standard Genesis model, like in this video:

Is there a simple way to move several nodes of a character at the same time? I think it's insane that this isn't possible (apparently). For example, you select both hands, and position them forward, but at the same time, instead of having to do this for each hand individually.

🗑️ Anonymous No. 1007457

>>1007453
Taking advantage of the question, is it possible to change the movement of things in relation to the "world" instead of the objects? For example, if I translate a hand vertically, it doesn't move vertically in relation to the world, but in relation to the hand's Y axis, which can be rotated.
I've looked for these same questions but I can't find anything on the Internet.

I happened to watch a video on YouTube about Daz 4.23 and it seems that there are some interesting new features regarding the application of physics to hair and clothes, does anyone know if this is true? I'm using 4.22 and I don't intend to update to see what's new (I'm afraid of breaking something).
Also, there's that Filatoon characters, for genesis 9. I think an anon experimented with it a few threads ago. What do you think of Filatoon? It seems like a decent way to render characters for creating sprites for games. And you don't need to render anything, filatoon is made to work directly in the filament render, so it's basically real-time rendering.

Anonymous No. 1007765

If you want to learn 3d modeling, that is, creating your own 3d stuff, then no, DAZ can't do that. If you want to take pre-existing models and make porn images with them, then yes, DAZ is good for that. If you want to make animations, then I would'nt recommend DAZ, Blender is a great place to start for that.
You "can" make some basic renders with a basic PC, but expect some crashes and to have hours long render times if you want to create something with good quality. In order to not have this problem, then you need to invest in a good GPU and good RAM, though I'm not an expert here so do your own research.

I'm still not fully grasping the request but if you want to add emission options to any surface. Apply the "Iray Uber Shader" to it. It should be one of the default install sets or starter essentals.
If its something more advanced light a light fixture that is part of the overall corridor surface, you can use uber shader for that but will probably want to separate the geometry of the fixture or create a new surface group for it.

Anonymous No. 1008142

I discovered that DAZ Studio's animation timeline has a bizarre bug. If you copy and paste keyframes to make a longer animation, there's a considerable chance that the whole animation will be completely broken, with fucked-up models, DAZ Studio being inaccessible for several minutes when you change frames, etc. I used to think the problem was because I was using too many IK-Chains, but I think it's actually the program's interpolation that's all fucked up. One way that apparently solves the problem (at least it solved one case for me), is to select all the key frames, click on "linear" interpolation, and then go back to "TCB". This forces the program to recalculate the interpolation and corrects the errors.
There's also a bizarre thing where the entire timeline breaks for no apparent reason, but if you right-click and choose "refresh", there's also a chance of fixing things.
Anyway, don't use DAZ to animate, it's not worth it.

without seeing your settings or which file you download or the DAZ files.
Sharp / strong shadows you mostly see with strong contrast and high bits of data stored. Polyhaven have some of the best you can get,
Some of the DAZ HDRIs are intentionally made somewhat flat as they are supposed to be used in conjunction with other light sources. Think of the more as ambient light and not direct sources. So they can be useful to if you dont want to rely too much on the HDRI.
>>1008283
haha that is a typo: back light. Not black. The human eye dont really see flat monotone surfaces but we see shapes and edges. Having a strong back light will create a halo effect on objects that will catch your eye. Same with having a side light that will highlight the edges of the figure. Avoid evenly flat lighting if you dont want that flat look. Dont be afraid of going with heavy shadows and darkness or even having parts of the object obscured in black.
Look up great films like the original Bladerunner and count the amount of times you have a strong back light and a side light to highlight shapes.
>>1008286
depends on what I want to do with it. But I like to use XGen but if its for DAZ you cant simulate imported spline hair (only for PAs...)
So I like to take a generic spline based hair and export it and edit it. Then reimport as a morph. Its not intended and you have to do it in a very specific way or DAZ wont accept the morph. But its a good way to create new styles while also having the option to have the hair being able to simulate with dforce.

with IRAY? No, I dont think so. With other rendering engine, then yes.
but what you could do is spot render with IRAY. Have a version of your model glossy and one normal. Render the image using the normal version and then after switch with the extreme glossy one. Then go in and spot render the areas you need and then just combine / blend in an image editor.

well you can kinda create your own already. Just take a very generic one made by a PA then export only the vertex and splines to maya/blender. Then edit and import as a morph for that hair and then you got your new hair style.
>Strand based hair is the future, right?
for more realism yes. But not for other styles obviously. Also one of the downsides to using strands are the lack of control. So even now its not always superior.
I like to have interaction with the hair so for me strands make more sense.

In daz, you could use the geometry editor and delete faces to "trim" the item.
You could also use dforce to simulate shrinking the item using the contraction-expansion ratio. That has varied results based on how the item is setup with surfaces etc.
The best option for most things in daz is to export it and customize it yourself, then reimport.

create separate libraries for freebies and some store things. They often has far less QC than the ofifical site (which is pretty low already) and you may end up with some morph that auto applies to every character of that generation. It's just an option to automatically change the "exposure value" and "shutter speed" (tone mapping) for the area/point you've selected, like digital cameras do.
It can be useful in certain cases, for those who use DAZ tone mapping instead of exporting the images to photoshop.

You sure you mean vram? Isn't AI doing its thing before the texture gets into vram? I mean, it saves disk space, but AI basically upscales it before sending it to GPU as a regular 4k texture. Do I not properly understand what it does?

Anonymous No. 1009051

on the fly compression to the vram, so you can make your big fuck-off uncompressed bullshit textures, and they'll get compressed before they hit vram, so a 256mb image that traditionally gets compressed down to something like 60mb will get compressed down to 3mb.

the downside is you lose performance off the top for games, but in something like daz that's entirely irrelevant. it would allow you to compress huge scenes down to tiny sizes, while keeping 90% of the detail in tact. if daz implemented it right (lol), you could compress everything in the background, and leave your characters at full detail.

I decided to test this script called "limb stick" because the IK-Chain option simply doesn't work properly in DAZ Studio. Things that should be anchored via the IK-Chain aren't during animations, they move all over the place.
The limbstick works for feet and hands, at least. But its use is very limited, it doesn't replace the IK-Chains.
I made a sex animation that wasn't completely awful (but it wasn't good either), but I can't post it here as an example.

Here the product:

IK is inverse kinematics.
You know when you select a model's hand and move it around, and the arm sort of moves accordingly? That's because of IK.
Another thing to keep in mind is parenting. You know when you put a hat on the character's head, and when you move the head the hat moves along with it? That's because the head is now the hat's parent.
The idea then is to do the same thing you did with the hat, but with a piece of another character's body. For example, put one character's hand on another character's head, and when you move the second character's head, the first character's hand will follow it, along with the arm because of the inverse kinematics.
DAZ supports this.
You go to "create" and then "new IK-Chain". You'll now have a little box in the scene. You then link a character's hand into the box. Now you make the other character's head the parent of this little box. That's it, the characters are now connected.
It should be that simple, but things break easily in DAZ, especially in animations.

That script I mentioned makes the animations work by brute force, but it doesn't replace IK chain in its functionality.

Where can I commission an Emma Roberts character?

Anonymous No. 1009759

I've discovered here that it's always best to avoid deleting character geometry, because this makes the file size about 50x larger for each character you delete a detail from. This is because normally, a saved scene only saves the character's "path", which is already saved elsewhere, and this saves memory. But when you delete a polygon, the program saves the entire character, and a 3MB scene will now take up 150MB.
One way around this is to select the polygons you want to "delete" in the geometry editor, and create a new surface for these polygons. Now you go to the surface editor, select this new surface you've created, and set the cutout opacity to 0.0. This way you remove the polygons you want, but without making your scene file huge.
