does there exist any Linux native software that lets you model proper NURBS? I own a Rhinoceros 3D license but it doesn't run in wine, and I hate windows.
(and by NURBS, not the shitty videogame-engine-style NURBS Bl*nder has, I mean like the type of NURBS used for high-accuracy product design)

every day this board goes on about NURBS and I have never seen a single thing made in NURBS by actual users on here lmao

I used to make NURBS stuff in it for college in early 2000s. changed my major and went into an IT major/career instead. now I'm bored out of my mind with this tedious shit fixing computer problems all day and all night, and want to do this creative stuff again but I'm rusty and want to get into practice again... I just don't wanna do it in windows

Take it from a fellow Linux user: the sooner you bite the Windows bullet, the better. That's how it is in many areas of 3D.

Nurbs are nice for product design/cad and by extension hardsurface

You could try virtual machines with KVM/QEMU and GPU passthorugh if you are willing to spend the time and have a second GPU or an iGPU

is there a way to do GPU passthrough without hooking it up to a second monitor? like can the VM's video output be auto-captured by the VM software and shown on my main display in the QEMU window?

I think that is what "Looking Glass" is for I do not know much about it but that would be something worth looking into

I'm pretty sure Blender NURBS are "real" NURBS. It's just the interface to manipulate them that's completely missing.
