How can I go about easily (because I'm a lazy fuck atm) producing a decently skinned character rig that deforms at least fairly well at the joints.
Anyone got any tips or what?

i say almost because there are some tools that will make your life easier if you know how to use them properly, but yeah dont count on there being 1 magic button you press that does the work for you

There is no way to do this that doesn't require advanced understanding of what you're doing and careful tweaking. Give up Op you're not cut out to be a player in this game if you can't conjure up the autistic attention to fine detail and deep patience required to see things thru to the end.

1. Get a rigged/skinned model that matches your rig's joint structure(rollbones included or not, extra deformation joints etc)
2. Keep the skin on, and reposition joints/bones to match yours
3. Copy skin weights
4. Enjoy
Again, it'll take some effort art the start to figure the process out, and you'll still have to make adjustments around armpits and most probably fingers but once you have the process figured out you'll be working much faster in sequent attempts.

Itll require some work anon.. im a rigger, and im lazy as fuck. But I worked on a system that allows me to be lazy. I created an auto-rig system that meets my needs very well and is easy to use along with a skinweight library that covers most cases so creating a new fully functional character rig takes very little effort.
But I have been developing this system for many years and taking the experience I made from working in gamedev and film vfx studios. If you want to get there you'll have to put in the work too...
Or, you know, just use one of the many publicly available autorigger tools out there.

yea noticed, it was just a close-up pic of the armpit area but it had wireframe nipples visible and our lord and savoiur jesus christ really doesnt like that.
