๐งต dunno how to finalize a single design
Anonymous at Mon, 12 Jul 2021 03:31:02 UTC No. 838334
curious like after the silhouettes are done, how are parts built to make the whole thing cohesive what not? like transformer especially
in which the gun seems to be made of the engine and the the body from the car front and so on. where does this decision comes from and what govern this decision
even tho i dont like transformer that much

the decisions come from the 2D cartoon. This has nothign to do with 3D.

>cohesive design.
>bayformer.
Pick one anon. That is not a transformer but a Bayformer but how shit that is is neither here nor there.
What you ask is how to do one, it's the same approach as any pop alien type design. You break it down into a largely human anatomy.
Garrus from mass effect here is very similar to prime for example. you have the sternum and simplified torso that wedges down to the triangular robocrotch.
You just create a mock anatomy with interlaced muscles and tendons that flow with each body section in as convincing a manner as your anatomic understanding allows.
All major lines flows with the major shapes of your design and leads the eye towards the next.
For the busy bayformer look you then go in and place lots and lots of greeble type nonsense mecha-geometry that breaks up each muscle/tendon group
and flows in the direction you overally want. Similar to how dried muscles and tendons would flow on a human without skin.
