Nodev here - I'm looking to make Quake 1 style low poly models, but in an anime style (I'm making a magical girl retro fps).

Does anyone have any tips?

>Quake 1 style
>Anime style

Pick one. You aren't going to make something look anime AND quake 1 at the same time.

Take a look at some jap PS1 games, find a style you like, and imitate that.

Jade Cocoon has some nice looking character models

Alternatively, find a bunch of 2D art that has the look and feel you're going for, and stare at it while you model.

I want to make a quake clone that is a pastiche of Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Nanoha, and Precure.

But crucially I will be doing it on one of the quake sourceports (like darkplaces), so there are some limitations that need to apply.

Sounds absolutely hideous.

Also, have fun with QuakeC.

Get Paul Steeds book. The guy invented that style.

Not at all, but he certainly perfected it and brought it to a level that was matched by few in its time...or even today.
