for fucking what? the grease pencil? character rigging? 2D animation? sculpting? hard-surface-modeling?
did you seriously just create a new thread with ZERO info on what you want and expect usable answers? simply judging from the way you asked your question i can already tell you that you DEFINITELY do not have what it takes. save the time that you would have spent watching a tutorial and do something else you massive fucking retard

Can someone point me to a good 3D character tutorial using blender that isn't made by someone who's models look like shit.
I am getting much better at box modelling but I always get stuck when I need to do things like make the eyes, hair, clothes and make them all stay together in the same model.
Maybe I'm just retarded but I feel like the tutorial space for blender is very lacking when it comes to making things that aren't fucking donuts or shitty household furniture.

Is BlenderGuru a safe place to start to get my feet wet with modeling/blender or do you recommend someone else?

Anonymous No. 841218

>>841212
I recommend you download Maya and watch Maya Learning Channel on YouTube

Anonymous No. 841219

>>841212
If you are completely new to blender, I'd recommend CG Cookie and their beginner series.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3GeP3YLZn5j31ES1VUMXi7M0U1QvSpoQ
Their rocket modeling series is on their website and requires a paid subscription. They have many other lessons there, too. If you're adamant on not paying, you'll have to look around.
BlenderGuru is where I tried to start with, but I found he went a little too fast. Going back to it now, it's really easy now that I have some experience. Naturally, you'll want to start with a donut.

it's acceptable for the absolute entry-level skill that it teaches, but then again: a million other randos teach that as well. you can practically type "beginner blender" into youtube and watch nearly everything - it's getting past that donut-stage that will be somewhat of a challenge

Here's the only tutorial you'll ever need:
1) learn keyboard shortcuts
2) learn modifiers
you're finished.
(This only covers modeling however. If you want to learn to make textures, then you have my condolances.)

Jesus christ. You've never used anything else right? Maya is by far the worst modeling tool out there. I remember how happy I was when I discovered Modo and Blender after years of modeling with Maya.

>Cannot do an inset on a flat plane
>No non-destructive modifiers for game assets and procedural modeling
>Shitty history system that bloats memory
>No weighted normals, all WN plugins suck
>Cannot do real time previews in dialogue boxes
>Knife tool is broken
>Booleans are broken
>Random nonmanifold geometry gets created without warning

It's fucking crap and you should be ashamed to even think it's even better than milkshape for modeling. Even Maya users admit it's shit at modeling an will tell you to use Max instead and use Maya for animation and rigging only.

Blender has modifiers. It can do basic things like selecting hard edges. It has more modeling tools and they are better. It has weighted normals for game assets. It doesn't create dirty meshes. The unwrap algorithm doesn't refuse to unwrap your mesh because of nonmanifold geometry, the bevel doesn't keep breaking, the meshes don't disappear because of a boolean on an open mesh, it can do insets on flat surfaces, it has quality of life non-destructive modifiers such as the array, twist, simple deform, mesh deform, the best shrink wrap tool out of any 3d app.

Maya is an animation and rigging software, not a good modeling software.

this. animation in maya also sucks big time. if you don't want to use blender, use cinema4d at least.

There aren't any left. Since months if not a year ago, or even more.
/gd/ does not either, despite that it's even deader than here.
Only /po/ still has some left, it's still deader than /gd/.
/vip/ has many, some from 3 or 4 years ago, but it's a special case.

Just learn Maya. No point in wasting time with Blender unless you are just a hobbyist not looking to make any money.
