>can model or sculpt a charatcer
>can retopo
>can texture
>can even rig my character
>can't pose or animate
It hurts so much. I feel like ramming my head into a wall over and over again trying to do something as simple as posing. I can animate in Unity but I can't even pose.
My ADHD makes it even worse and I only get anxiety from failing to pose my charatcers in blender.
How do I 'move' my character's limbs in a way that reflects what I'm trying to do instead of it deforming or going haywire?

Please /3/ anons, help me. I'm willing to learn but I can't find dedicated pose/animation tutorials for blender.

Apparently you don't know how to rig if you can destroy your character just by trying to pose it.

It doesn't deform my mesh but maybe stretching around the armpit seams but that's about it. I can fix that with shapekeys.
What I mean is,
I don't know how to move my character's limbs in a way that seems natural it just isn't simple enough that I when I move a bone for let's say the elbow they don't move in a way that a human or a doll's limb moves. I think i can explain it better by making it about the axis of rotation/transformation do you get what I mean?
Pressing G and moving my limb moves it in a way that I don't like in 3 dimensional space. I can't cope with this and I become upset.
I don't know 'how' to pose the character, like what bone does what to to the rig. It's not just my rig either, I've tried with OW models off smut base too. I simply suck at posing and it hurts. If i can pose my characters I can animate it easily.

did you create a proper rig, and not just moving individual bones

Anonymous No. 840178

>>840177
Yes anon. I'm telling you I don't know how to execute it with a properly rigged character like OW models.

>>840175
I'm not a rigging chad, but if it's a proper IK rig, I think you should get "natural" results just by moving the position of the hand and feet around. Idk what's the problem otherwise, if you're a human being you know how body works lol. Maybe post a screenshot or something. Posing is easy as fuck for me and I do it super rarely.

Also, use reference, especially if stuck.

I learned how to animate in less than two weeks to a near AAa level. In Six months I was able to keyframe at an AAA level akin to TLoU2's style if given enough time, minus the motion matching logic. At this point I'm able to forego motion capture altogether (aside from saving the clock) and put together animation blueprints and their post process bp's that work perfectly in Unreal Engine. If you can't do the same in terms of learning then you're not going to make it except as a baby that shits its diapers (the wageslave). Anything you look into should be viable and approachable the further you go into mastering 3D as a skillset. This shouldn't be difficult to pick up and just even rote copy, all to get your foot in the figurative golden door. Ipso facto, intelligence is something that you cannot be missing when you're building up anything intellectually stimulating. Without a strong mind, this leaves you vulnerable to plateaus and gaps in your physical birth of knowledge, or accessing it in general. The frayed and loose areas of your mind block you from connecting the dots on many levels of abstraction, leading to incompetence, inability, mediocrity, and the usual such as your post. My suggestion is to merely remove your head out of your asshole and attempt to actually learn, regardless of your weak, victimized attitude of "suffering adhd", as if mental illness is anyone's problem but your own. Your anxiety alone is the mark of someone insecure, and the only remedy to insecurity is a scorched earth policy towards it. You'll dismiss this post as bitterness, other anons will say it doesn't say anything seer, but you and I both know you're an inadequate pile of shit that just doesn't want to learn, much less actually do work to connect the tissue in your brain. Consciously you think it'd be nice to learn - sure, but deep down we know you're nothing but a vocal liar feigning helplessness in the guide of your already fragile ego.

Go back and do it again.

I dunno man it just seems like you have alot of time on your hands typing out massive paragraphs to anons on such a slow board. Its pretty iffy! You'd have to actually post something for someone to be insecure. I see through the charade though. Forget I said anything carry on with your roleplay.

Dude, literally place hands and feet at the same location as your reference, other bones will follow. You do know how transform and rotate tools work, right?

It just seems like you're lazy when you're asking such a question. Show us your problem and what you're trying to achieve, then maybe you'll get a more precise answer.

Let me chime in with my opinion. I too have ADHD, freshly diagnosed a couple of months ago.
I had a debate with duckposter a while ago. He is doing it without medication, I am trying it with and without - both. After 4 weeks of taking medication I can say that I fare better when using it, but I have also spent the last 4 weeks without it, and guess what experience/knowledge I gained?
Yes, it is largely dependent on yourself - no doubt about it. I could perform better after using the medication, while not using it. So the experience with the medication trained my brain to perform better, even when not using it.
Most people experience fear when facing the unknown - even the most successful people.
It's normal. Frustration too is a part of the process. If you hit a wall and you can't proceed further, then you're doing something wrong. Either its in your mind, or its your workflow/tools. Rather than going apeshit about it and put yourself down or pity yourself, you should seriously think about what you are doing, assess yourself and your tools. There must be something that you do wrong - or you wouldn't fail. If you are not failing as hard in other creative areas then there must be something you miss.
First - GTFO of the limited and mostly dumb Blender community. Its filled with grifters that want to acquire money out of its users, while they themself are NOT adequately educated.
Go straight to Maya tutorials when trying to learn animation. The principles are the same. You don't need a step by step tutorial, you need a stream of consciousness tutorial of a true and tested artist that has archived something. Not some noob-shitters that pretend they know.
Second - what type of Rig are you using? Is it actually good or trash? Most Rigs freely available for Blender are the not great.
If you built it yourself, are you absolutely sure you are able to rig properly? Is your Rig really good or are you lying to yourself?

I can type at ~140wpm functionally, words nor thinking are an issue. Whether or not you listen is of no consequence, it just means you're yet another mediocrity fumbling through existence and as such do not matter in any stimulative capacity.

Continued.
Here get this Rig:
https://jimkroovy.gumroad.com/l/MrMannequinsTools
Its one of the best freely available Rigs that I have found for Blender. It is industry standard, very comfortable and it works perfectly with UE4 (that's what it is made for).
Then search for tutorials by actual animators in the industry and learn from them.
I sadly cannot recommend any, since I am actually in a similar position - not really a animator, but in contrast to you, I haven't even started yet.
What I do know is that you need to get in the mindset of a performer. Put yourself in front of a big mirror or film yourself acting out the movement/pose. Then copy from reality.
Do this as an daily exercise for a couple of weeks. Do a certain amount of poses/ simple movements and build yourself a library (of knowledge).
Also spent some time with your own body and observe the limbs muscles/joints and how they move and limit your movement. You need to study the subject of the human body and its movement. Do this seriously and with confidence and you will gain something out of it. I am sure of it.
If you feel fear and frustration, see this as a good thing: you are in unknown territory and you subconscious reacts to that. Its always the worst right before the breakthrough.

That's a tough question, and ultimately, only you can answer this for yourself.
People with ADHD have a strong affinity for drugs either way, because of the lower dopamine levels in the brain.
How do you fare in daily life, are you addicted to nicotine/alcohol/weed/porn/whatever?
I have done all 4 moderately here and there, but after starting to take the prescribed amphetamine, paradoxically I could stop with weed and alcohol over night basically and I didn't miss them.
Stopping with smoking tobacco gives me some problems, but I am working on it. Porn is also not really a problem (wasn't before either)
Since the medication gives me a strong drive to construct my life more healthy, I feel strongly motivated to eat healthier, to exercises regularly, meditate and overall better myself.
Not taking the medication proved also not that hard - this was the reason I spent the last 4 weeks sober, I wanted to see if I could do that after taking them for 4 weeks straight.
If you have never taken medication and you constantly fail, maybe try them, but be very aware and careful.
That is the gamble with ADHD, if you take one potentially dangerous drug that might harm you, but loose other dependencies and perform better in life - for me that is a deal I can life with.
In the end I can say that the experience of having taken them gave me the push that I needed.
Duckposter is right in one aspect - when it comes to your own weakness, one that you want to overcome - the only way is through them. You must face it. There is only do, or do not.
This is the secret to success. Its not about how hard and often you fail - its the fact that you must be always willing to stand up and try again.

OP:: Use trackball rotation on bones- (double tap R key); tweak to desired pose- and then move it a bit with g.. lock the axis for more precision. Shift-z for example.... you can do it, just like anyone can with practice

The thread you're referencing was about a 2D anime aesthetic replicated with 3D models in which you needed some intricate math and cognitive function to pull off correctly, but it was entirely doable for the tests I did. The animation mentions you're misremembering in your post from that thread are idle loops and poses using the technique cited above. I've known how to 3D animate traditionally for a number of years already, the anime experimenting was just something I did last year. Hope that helps you remember a little better! :)
