can anyone tell me what advantages Maya has over 3ds max in terms of animation tools. it seems like whatever max animators there ever were are going way of the dodo. and even many gaming studios have switched over to Maya (the inferior modeling software imo) im guessing in order to save $

I think rigging tools h1as something to do with it, I've used maya a lot and only a little bit of max but I notice that the animation workflow in maya is more straightforward than max. Max has some neat things like CAT rigging for quick and easy setup but the rigging tools in maya feel a lot more intuitive and versatile.
Max has an auto key feature that makes animating a bit more quicker but for some reason I find the graph editor in max a bit fucky especially rotations compared to mayas. Just generally Max to me feels like boomer software that's very dated in the way it does things, some things take a couple extra steps and can be confusing for new users, maya has built in tools for other programs like send to unity and unreal which make it a better pipeline software

LOL Max came out 1996 and Maya 1999 though.
Both integrated much stuff from their predecessors like 3D Studio DOS or PowerAnimator.
