🧵 my personal rig setup.

Is this a good rig setup?

I make a rigify setup and create some pole target bones set to not deform and use IK chains on the elbow and knee, hand and foot. (elbow and knee set to 1 chain lenght and foot and hand pole target set to 2 IK chain).

It works pretty damn good, but I wonder if is a common setup.

Badass my man.
The pole bones(the tips on youe knees and elbows)
I like to have them unconected and 2 or 3 units away from the knee,no need to have them touch.
You are using pole targets? Wait your'e not, use the bones between the joints as pole targets,
Can you post the original wonky concept you made? Id like to save it

well, not sure what's the name of them.

It's usually some non conected not parented not deforming target bones that control the IK bones.

I set the articulations bones as targets to IK chains.

These bones.
What do you use them for?
Place them in the pole tab in the IK constraint.
Wait, does your inner arm and upper tigh bones also have an IK constraibt?

Good job, Cris. However, couldn’t that have taken about 5 minutes to set up in Mixamo?

they're the target of the IK chain.

So to move or rotate a limb I move those.

Hands have 2 chain lenght, elbow 1 chain lenght.
Foot have 2 chain lenght and knee 1 chain lenght.

Those bones help with the IK, and are what I control to move around the limbs.

no, mixamo doesn't create a rig that allows easy posing by hand.

Dont use them as a ik target, use them as pole target for the lower leg, remove ik from the tigh leg, and set ik chain to 2 on the lower leg

by IK target I mean I selected first the pole target, then the limb rigify bone and did Ctrl + I and set 1-2 as chain lenght.
