Always suspected that Kurt Russel and Clint Eastwood served as the main inspiration for solid snake. There is also a manga element to the character design that carried over as the representation of the characters became ever more visually realistic.

Snakes ethnicity would then be 'western european/caucasian heroic male' as envisioned by japanese character artists.

Yeah, but the V model is just plain weird. That's what I'm trying to bring up. The 3 model has a tinier forehead, less edgy cheeklines, and overall looks way more Western European/British than the faggot that I put in the OP

They clearly went for less anime influences in V but still keeping a resemblance to the young Big Boss as depicted in 3.
Anime heads that have a big crown and pointed jaw like snake in 2,3 and even MGS4 is a very feminine ratio for a skull.
As snake was made ever more realistic they prob felt they had to introduce more masculine features to his overall bonestructure.

In V Big Boss is also on the path towards becoming the villain.
The expression built into his neutral face is prob very deliberately depicted as being more harrowed and tormented.

Yeah looks fine, but all the characters in the game are then as coherently weebed.

If you had a snake that looked as weeb as the MGS3 version in MGSV you could not juxtapose him with a Quiet that looks like a real woman and so on.
Snake would look like a cartoon character next to all the more photo-realistic depictions of humans in that game if they kept the MGS3 morphology.

You've probably consumed too much 2D and is no longer able to tell.

That artstyle is like everyone is a cartoonized version of some Hollywood A-list actor, both men and women have the same feminine base morphology with
more idealized and spindly features and lighter bonestructure than you'd ever happen upon in real life.
Look at Ocelot there, Orlando Bloom playing an elf looks less elven than that Ocelot, even for a women that would be a very light glass jaw IRL.

You have grown ass men running around looking like they're a sixteen year old Leonardo Dicaprio with an adults complexion, that doesn't happen in real life.
Where you do see adults with such super juvenile lightbulb heads and pointed jaws all the time is in anime.

Therefore you can look at characters from MGS you can look at RE, DMC or FF and go "yeah, this was made by the japanese".
You don't go "hmm these looks just like everyday people, I wonder from what very specific island nation this may not at all have originated from"

Yeah I do remember that part now that you mention it. I kinda retcon Kojima in my own head so his stories are way less retarded than they really are.

The man is sorta like JJ Abrams, quite genius at conveying mood and feeling, terrible at telling a coherent story
without massive plotarmor and straight up magic shit happen left and right to handwave away what's happening on screen.

No I'm not saying that at all. They look realistic but they absolutely don't look real.
If one of these characters walked past you in a supermarket you'd be stunned that sumkinda weeb android just strolled by.

There's very obv stylization going on, you don't need to be a trained artist to realize that these aren't meant as depictions of real humans.
Hyper realism was never the goal there.

What I am saying is that if we applied similar quality skinshaders to a bunch of scans of real faces and did a line up and asked people to pic out the fictional characters
10 out of 10 regular people would succeed and 9 out of 10 faceblind mofos would also be able to accomplish the task.
