What are your opinions of AutoDesk products & their competitors in the building industry? Does anyone do drafting & modelling better than the AutoDesk products, like Civil3D & Revit?
I started working as a structural drafter at the beginning of this year, so most of my experience has been with Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM360, etc, for modelling. I'm hoping to learn 12D in the future, which is the primary Civil modelling product used in Australia.
Sorry if this is unrelated to the board, very new here. Thanks

idk i just use CAD from them, for drawing plans
i also model in it some boxes if a hand drawn work is not allowed, but the render is obviously shit even with my lack of experience

Same as Adobe - only innovative when forced to, if they can buy out their competition just to let their product rot afterwards they'll do it
and they force their shitty subscription scheme on everything

you didn't hear this from me but autodesk is about to change their branding
getting rid of colors, going black and white, changing their logo

Fair enough.
What products of theirs have you used?

CAD's a real pain to use. The amount of time that it takes to load anything is incredible. At least Revit can run with a few addons & work in a decent manner.
What type of plans do you create in ACAD?

I can see that. They 100% dominate the building industry, all our products are from AutoDesk. We'd be up a creek without a paddle if they went belly up over night.
We have a replacement for adobe pdf reader: Bluebeam. It's engineering specific, but it's really intuitive & easy to use. Not to mention, much quicker that adobe. But, comes with a hefty price tag attached to it.

Anything else changing beside their branding? I kinda like how it is now, helps me quickly distinguish between the apps.
