How good is blender if we include blender addons?

So far I use retopoflow, modifiers tools and simply cloth.

I wonder if I should go full schizo mode and install the most addons I could.
Any anon here can give me advice.

it still wont be industry standard.

Blender does a lot of things competently but doesn't particularly excell at anything. In some cases Blender will be better than some industry packages, but it's never #1 in anything.

Blender's biggest strength is that you can do a lot within it without the hassle of jumping from one program to another for different parts of the process. Of course, a lot of the time, that additional hassle is worth it. ...But sometimes it isn't.

The worst thing anyone could do in 3D is stick solely to a single program. Try everything. Learn which different programs work best for you in different areas.

For me, Blender is KING in poly modelling and animating anything under 100k tris. After that, I don't want to deal with its viewport performance shenanigans.

is retopoflow what you use if you want to retopo in blender? there seems to be about eight different options from the videos i've found.

Assume people are including addons and userscripts when discussing any DCC it's part of the experience, Maya has better UVs than blender out of the box for example but people in maya still use plugins for keeping track of certain things with games like texel density, and animators use all kinds of addons.

You should install those that you find useful and those you might potentially use sometime.
For reference I have 75 addons installed, but only 20 or so are activated, because if I would activate all Blenders loading-time would be much slower and they do cram up the UI.
I have customized the shit out of Blender so for me the Pie-menu-editor is the most useful addon.
UV-toolkit 2 and UV packmaster 2 are essential if you want to unwrap in Blender without becoming suicidal.
Boxcutter, HardOPs, Meshmachine, bezier-mesh-shaper, Bevel after Boolean, Mira tools, Loop-tools and Quad-remesher are essential for (hardsurface) modelling (IMHO).
YMMV.
The rest you have to find yourself.

I don't like retopoflow (at all). I do my retopo in Maya because quaddraw is superior.
But there is also this (free) PolyQuilt addon available.
I have no idea how competent it is, but you might want to find out.
