no, but i do recall that one method used was just using a hi-res version of a hair model and then projecting textures onto a low-poly mesh

hi cris, just extrude planes. uv unwrap, and apply materials to it. You can either paint the shadows/highlights (not caring about topology), tweak the normals with the abnormal (if you have topology in mind), or apply materials (requires topology)
