This >>845650 ("same pbr") makes me suspicious that somebody forgot to invert a roughness map.

I dream of a day where people on /3/ will argue about quality of something that actually takes skill, like vegetation in different games, texturing of surfaces in post apocalyptic games, sculpting quality of God of War, hair on protagonists etc., instead of which button press in which program gives you technically better representation of a material ball. Some of you even dare to feel superior for paying for software X instead of a software Y.

based. I'm always optimistic but this board kind of disappoints. But it is better than /g/

I feel superior because I use all the software that I want to use (that includes all kinds of expensive proprietary software and Blender), I actually know how to use them and I pay NOTHING.
Get on my level, scrubs.

Warez? cracks? Blender's cool but I would love to learn more and would do the pirate route 100% but I'm concerned about malware, and it's not like I can binary-diff the cracked binaries to original binaries to decide if it has malware or not. I've done that before when original software was available for download. Not always the case. Also I heard Maya writes license data to saved project files. I don't know if that is true, but I do know for a fact that AutoCAD does that. It is specifically done to out pirates.

>Also I heard Maya writes license data to saved project files
Now that you mention this I have a question - if I start a project in Substance but at some point buy a license and export the textures, will the textures still contain some watermark or other shit that might be tracked to a cracked software?

Of course it does, unless it's exactly 0.5, which I doubt. And not matching the lighting is another fuckup. It's not difficult to do; you're just incompetent.

>>845719
>I couldn't light it the exact way in max, cause it's fucking pain in the ass
You probably could have if you used the thing whose name I don't remember that's meant to be like an IOR but for lights, it gets used as a way to try and perfectly match up CGI lighting with the real world physical lights used in a studio

>>845906
>and it's not like I can binary-diff the cracked binaries to original binaries
That is literally the entire point of checksum like SHA256, even a single byte of difference will produce a radically different checksum (even if the file size is the same); that's the whole point.
