It already is retarded bloatware, considering pixologic refuses to remove retarded 2.5d painting mode and implement normal object management instead of retarded "tool" fuckery. But it's still the best thing we have.

That's what's basically enables Zbrush to do its magic you clown. Try to sculpt in a "real" 3D tool like blender and witness how it chokes at a fraction of the polycount that Zbrush handles.

It's a law of commercial software that once basic functionality is mature, bloat begins to accumulate. Without bloat, the cost of maintenance exceeds whatever can be made by selling an established feature set to new customers. That's why you get bloat. The alternative? Rental models.

all of this shit and you still can't remap basic keys lol.
you can customize absolutely everything!!!!! except if you want shift to do something else than what they hardcoded it to do 20 years ago because it's not like a $1000 piece of professional software should be expected to allow users to configure their key bindings.

whoa thanks for the protip! now try doing it for the scenario i asked about: remap shift to do something else than smoothing. instead of shift to smooth and ctrl to mask, set them to do the opposite. how did that go? oh right those functions can't be remapped, they're fucking hardcoded in, because zbrush is special and cannot have a real key remapping menu like every other piece of software on the planet, it has to have this stupid partial workaround with ctrl+alt that leaves basic functions unrebindable. it's emblematic of their whole half-assed philosophy where terrible design decisions made by an idiot 20 years ago will continue defining how you work with the program forever.

false. ctrl, for example, is hardcoded to masking brushes and does not allow to be changed to anything else. besides, what if i don't want a brush under ctrl but, say, camera panning? impossible, because camera controls are also hardcoded in. i can't have a brush under alt, i can't have panning be anything else but alt. they're absolute basics and they're impossible to customize.
>Sorry but you lost this argument.
i have to wonder if you're knowingly lying or if you actually don't even use zbrush and only defend it because it's what you imagine you will be using once you actually start modelling instead of watching youtube all day. many such cases.

Why do you compare dedicated sculpting software to a dcc? Blender does have sculpt feature, but everyone knows it's not nearly as developed as Zbrush. It also has multitude of other things Zbrush doesn't have that serve completely different purpose. What's next? Autocad btfo?
Anonymous at Sat, 28 Aug 2021 20:44:32 UTC No. 847188

Because Blendlets keep going on about the sculpt performance and how it's going to be industry standart. They compare it with Zbrush, Marvelous (yes really) and think the animation tools are better than Maya of all things. That's the joke.

Well, you're sort of right, but it's not the point. Zbrush's ui is bad, but you get used to it only a little bit slower than you get used to blender. It's just a shitton more confusing looking, so you don't give it the few hours of undivided attention it needs.

Also, using Blender and Zbrush is like one of the perfect combos. Add Substance and Houdini to the mix and you get the perfect 3D art suite.
