Are there any tools that let you draw edge loops on an unoptimized mesh and then do some math fuckery to interpolate a good topology?
e.g. you could draw lines of different "charge" and then have some kind of electric field generated like the one in pic related and use that to get a good mesh somehow.
Seems like a good idea to me but I've never seen any software that does it.

Give 'instant meshes' a whirl. It's free and you can get competent results with it.

Does anyone know if this feature ever ended up getting added to RetopoFlow? Their product page has stuff that looks similiar but not quite the same.
