Are there any tools that let you draw edge loops on an unoptimized mesh and then do some math fuckery to interpolate a good topology?

e.g. you could draw lines of different "charge" and then have some kind of electric field generated like the one in pic related and use that to get a good mesh somehow.

Seems like a good idea to me but I've never seen any software that does it.

Give 'instant meshes' a whirl. It's free and you can get competent results with it.

Interesting. There are some good references in their SIGGRAPH paper too. Thanks.

NVil does it.

pd. Just drawing guiding paths, not the "charge" idea you describe.

I was looking at this paper from the references https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OTl_TtAm1o that linked to this thread https://blenderartists.org/t/interactive-quadrangulation/641769/59

Does anyone know if this feature ever ended up getting added to RetopoFlow? Their product page has stuff that looks similiar but not quite the same.
