did you ever get the call after using pirated software?

Anonymous No. 849769

i dont mess with the foundry.

Stopped even using their stuff when substance painter became semi decent. Dont really use modeling tools anymore, so no use for Modo.

Mari is much much better for film than Painter.

I know but it is overkill for me. I dont think they ever embraced game art with it.

I know /3/s not going to believe this but the other day, two men in dark suits knocked on my door and flashed foundry badges, they said I had to delete all files that were created with my illegal copy of Modo, I told 'em I didn't know what they're talking about and to leave, later that night I heard a rustling at my back door, I peaked out a window and could see a guy trying to jimmy the door. I'm scared /3/ they're coming for me I keep getting calls but there's no one on the other end and there's a black unmarked van that's slowly driving past 2-3 times a day. I've set grenade trip wires just in case they make it in, I've also set a trigger to upload all my Modo files to a remote servers that goes offline once all file are received and then fries my main hardware.

Me personally, never. However, The Foundry did two unannounced audits at my workplace in 2016 and 2018.

Can they do that without the popo paper?
Or they just went with "lol we're just here for super special maintenance XDXDXD"

I honestly don't know. I asked my employer about this in 2016 but he was either unwilling or unable to give a straightforward answer.

the foundry sounds so cartoonishly litigious that i've become convinced that all the horror stories about them are just FUD to put off would-be pirates

Some of them are true, but they only catch the retards, the rest of it is fear mongering to scare away the pussies.
If you have an working brain and do it like this >>850353, they'll never know you even exist.
Leave a stupid long and wide paper trail and keep your hacked license servers on an online machine and they might come for you.

so, i've been thinking of [irating nuke to learn how to composite my vray renders, so this gives me pause to think about it.

so, if i do all the craking steps and secure nuke in a firewall would i still be put ina list?

I just posted the answer directly above your post.
You can't "secure" Nuke in a firewall - if you want security, use it on an offline machine.
That's the only way to be safe.
