๐Ÿงต Will I make it bros?

Anonymous No. 850586

Been sculpting for about a week (used blender for about a year now). I wanna make it to industry level work by January, ya think it's possible?

Order of pics is left to right, top down. Been focusing back on the face instead of full body like model 2 because oh lawd that is some nightmare shit.

My plan is to work on hair next, then back to body and remesh. Anything I should add to it? Anyways, thanks anons.

1. probably not

2. learn zbrush

Ok so not likely but doable, I'll have my portfolio ready by December BOIIII and if zbrush is mandatory to learn (as an industry standard) then does zbrush core have the tools necessary to complete models? I've been working on the iPad Nomad app cuz it seemed like a fun 3d tool next to procreate.

I'll get back to the body in a week, the face/hair is just too shit to currently continue modeling the body for and that's the harder part anyways.

if.you want to make a job, get some cheap clay or moldeable material and do sculpting IRL
then use that scult and translate it to digital
also.if you want to get a job, use zbrush, blendet ia fucking trash and is not going to get you a job soon unless you pretend to be a clickbait gaytuber

NO, do it now. leave everything you are doing and focus on anatomy right now, don't waste time on everything else that wont help you get your mediocre model looking good, you must leave those steps for later when you have your anatomy down. you will thank me.
>>850644
op, dont listen to this retard, he obviously is a yes man, a you can do it even it if leaves you in 28th place... i am telling you the truth, to increase your skill tenfold you need to focus on anatomy, everything else will fall into place because if you have a well done piece with amazing anatomy it will look good no matter what.

You won't make it if you stop, just like every craft, if you keep at it for long enough, you'll eventually become good enough. It's all a matter of how good you want to get and how much time you want to dedicate to your craft.

>I wanna make it to industry level work by January, ya think it's possible?
It's possible, but you're gonna need to do a LOT of sculpting.

Facial features are a bit undefined and generic anime, but it's not bad as in typical newbie stuff where everything is too flat except for the lips looking like two worms.

Some proper critique: the area around the cheekbones/corner of eyes is fucked up, same goes for the eyelids. The mouth looks kinda ok but unless this character has severe underbite you need to fix the corners of the mouth.

Also for all that is holy, get better lighting, how the fuck can you even sculpt in this washed out shit show ?

And if you are looking to be pro level by January, don't waste any time on sculpting clothing, the chance of you doing that as part of your work is like 0.1%, do character, creature, animal sculpts, particularly try to do interesting things with proportion, because you're not going to be modeling full realistic humans from scratch as part of your work, you will practically always start from a scanned and cleaned up base mesh when you do a human.

Anonymous No. 851643

>>851637
Haha thanks for all the critique anon! Yea I was on a mad sprint for the past week so I took it easy for a couple days, which is helping my eyes/brain adjust and see the mistakes. And as for the lighting, I'm sculpting in an iPad app called nomad, then exporting it to blender. Supports hdris but maybe I don't have a decent one setup in there.

And damn, sadge about the clothes, should I just bite the bullet and buy like clo3d or just keep the clothes simple? Also thanks for mentioning the base mesh thing, I figured it'd be like that but wasn't sure since lel noob.

>>851434
Indeed it is too high

>should I just bite the bullet and buy like clo3d or just keep the clothes simple?
I would say don't bother with clothes at all. Again it's not something you are going to be working much on when sculpting outside of armor, and even that is mainly kitbashing these days.

You are better off putting your focus on grasping overall anatomy and interesting proportions. The latter is important as it is what sets your work apart, a correctly proportioned and detailed human being isn't going to make anyone go 'wow!' these days, you need to do something interesting in terms of character and proportions in order to stand out.

True, that's where design is mainly headed back to again. Since the drab 3rd gen of consoles till now, we've had a ton of realism and a grand push for it, in both cinema and gaming, but the world wants a little chaos, a little grunge, so we're probably headed back for style heavy in a massive way, leading to subcultures. Kinda already seeing it with the zoomers inventing their own genres like Dark Academia, latching onto the oddest parts of vaporware and reimagining it, etc. Perhaps Alita was even a sign that people are looking for a bit more "fun" rather than the depressing, dystopic, cyberpunk themes that have basically run their course in media, much like the zombie trend of the mid 2000's that continued well past 2010 but fell out pretty quickly after that.

But yea ok, I guess the takeaway is I'll just not bother with clothes much kek guess we should have a library or something for that anyways. Thanks for all the advice anon, really helps!

Is that really your work OP? I'm going to be 100% honest with you....You are doing fucking amazing. Better that most of the fags here that pretend they know what they're talking about/working on. The fact that you're willing to even post your work here is not only proof that you are better than 99% of this board but you are willing to expose yourself for criticism on the gayest fucking message board that has ever been created. Congrats OP. You're actually better than most of the idiots that search this board and post their bullshit or act like they know what the fuck they are talking about/doing. Keep going and don't stop.

Haha it's not why I posted but thanks, that's some great motivation. Alot of the battle is just doing it I feel, and if you work on general skills of 3d instead of focusing on on a tool, you can always adapt. Really wanted some critique and discord is awful for that stuff in larger groups, though the wip bread seems to be moving along nicely now. But yes, I will continue! Starting to really understand the sped up sculpting vids on YouTube from the pros which is really nice.

Yea it really sucks, still being relatively fresh my brain catches on the mistakes days after, though I suppose that's unavoidable at this stage (the ego catching up to reality I suppose heh). Worked on a couple more full bodies this week, into remeshing right now though my hands and feet still need more work. Hands aren't as hard as first time I tried back when I was learning box modeling last year which honestly feels fucking great.

But thanks anon! Found a few god tier works in artstation and I don't intend to stop till I can see the same horizons as those artists, fucking legends.
