๐งต Unwrapping UV hair cards in Blender from Zbrush
Anonymous at Tue, 21 Sep 2021 12:23:34 UTC No. 852090
I tried following this tutorial on unwrapping UV hair cards in blender, that i imported from Zbrush.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhq
The weird part is that when i paste the UV map on all the hair cards at the 1:50 mark, i get UVs completely randomly sequenced and turned as shown in the image.
Is there a way to fix this?

It's not broken.
I know for a fact that Zbrush flips your UVs, usually upside down by default. You can disable it by going to Preferences --> import/export --> Toggle eFlipMapVert.
If you just want to roll with that drawback, you can just flip your UVs in blender. Go to the UV panel in blender, highlight the UVs you want flipped (hit A for all or click vert + L), either flip with vertically with (S + Z/Y + -1 or R + Y + 180)

I assume his method works by fallowing vertex order to copy and paste the uvs, import export from zbrush fucked your vertex order.
Just do the fallow active quads thing for each strip, bit extra tedious work, but you will have it done in less than 5 minutes.

hmm i tried turning that off
didn't seem to work, same problem.
it's not just flipped UVs btw
they are in completely wrong order and the order is different for every hair card.
Here is an example of different hair that i tried again. The arrows point to the UVs that the faces represent

yeah i'm guessing that's one way to fix it.
i guess i'll do that if there is no solution.
i'm more new to blender, is there a way to select each strip easily instead of carefully double clicking the faces to get a row (like in the picture)

right click the face of a strip, hit L

i always select shit by alt clicking and ctrl + or was it shift + to increase selection size. but L + clicking works since it just selects whole isalnd.
