What software do I need to master to create something like picrel? From the 1-10 how hard will it be for someone who can’t even draw well

>What software

Any DCC such as max, maya, blender etc.

> how hard 1-10 for someone who can’t even draw well

Roughly 11.

If you master the texturing, you can do it in 1-2 hours, LOW POLY

Anonymous No. 852534

if you have to ask you will simply never achieve it, willpower doesn't have a time limit

>1-2 hours

I've been doing 3D for over a decade. If I was offered a million dollar if I succeeded to deliver a PSX quality version of that in 120min I would prob not be able to claim the award.

Doing a PS2 quality version of that within a workday would be doable in full-concentration-amped-on-cocaine mode.

Doing what we actually see there I'd want at least a week.

>model snail
>model rocket engine and robot parts
>figure out how to fold shell and robotparts
>rig snail
>rig rocket engine
>rig robot arms
>UV-unwrap
>paint textures
>rig and animate

you can't even spend more than 10min on each step to have it done within the hour. How tf would you do it anon?

>I've been doing 3D for over a decade
I don't have that much experience, started working with 3d in 2014/5 in university (fine arts eastern europe, no liberal and modern bullshit only European arts and some architecture) cause our professor wanted to teach us how we can make shortcuts if we prearrange our "assets" in a portrait mode(lots of buzzwords that don't have any meaning here) so that we can easily trace out the shapes and add details later. That's how I started playing around with cinema4d at university and a cracked one at home(since we only used the licensed one in class)
>If I was offered a million dollar if I succeeded to deliver a PSX quality version of that in 120min I would prob not be able to claim the award
But it's easy as pie actually, look at how low poly it is. Substance painter can enhance the quality by 1 million percent. There were some posts on Reddit (inb4 onions, redditfag, out) where someone made quality renders of plains, guns, cars, buildings in LOW POLY, textured with substance painter. Look there's literally no complexity to it, a low poly snail with a low poly engine.

>you can't even spend more than 10min
But it's easy as pie, use a reference image for both snail and engine, you won't spend more than 30 minutes on modeling and texturing, only the animation and particles are going to be tricky to make
I would do it myself but I'm unironically on a vacation in the Balkans right now

If you can do it you should record yourself work and make a youtube channel. That is Savant tier S++ level if you can pull it off, you'd pretty much become a CG-legend.

I was actually thinking of opening a /3/ youtube channel but anonymously, I don't want fame or money just to help our begginer frens and other Anons master the art of digital modelling. But it really isn't hard idk why a decade's old veteran in 3d modelling would be amazed.

I'll make it then, I'll make a thread when I do this and will post the video one week later when I gain enough audience. Should I do a timelapse or a full video?

Anonymous No. 852572

there's always that one guy who can do everything in an impossibly short time frame, but has never actually produced any work.

Consider that this was made 15 years ago by several artists at Spontaneous, a VFX house from NY, now known as LVLY.

So for you; years before you have obtained the necessary foundation.

Tools used:
XSI+mental ray, Digital Fusion for compositing

If you can do it in less than two hours, real-time with no editing would be most impressive.

Anon........ it's literally a low poly snail with an engine inside the shell

You need software that you can sculpt, retopo, texture, and animate with. Which solutions you use are up to you. Difficulty is probably going to be 9 to 12, and will require a tremendous amount of time. The skills you'll need are:
>texturing
>materials
>sculpting
>modelling
>animating
>rigging
>particle effects
So in other words, it covers pretty much the whole spectrum of 3D to various degrees. It's great you want to get into 3D, but please start with smaller goals first. It's like the equivalent to novice programmers wanting to create an AAA rpg from scratch.

Lol, out of those only Maya is capable of doing something like this. But the best choice would be Cinema 4D.

You clearly never used C4D. If you did, you'd kneel to his power.
