Im currently unemployed, want to learn 3d, my brother uses 3dsmax is that all I need?
Blender looks fun but not sure if there is work for it.

3ds max for hard-surface-modeling, zbrush for sculpting, substance for texturing.

Just use Blender then try out industry standard stuff then come back to Blender

Yeah it's all you need. If your brother is already proficient in it you can learn from him so you might as well go with max.

Max isn't just for 'hard surface' modelling anon. It's suitable for any type of modelling work.

What a pointless answer. Of course it *can* do anything - but zbrush is still superior when it comes to sculpting. My point still stands
