How reliable is pic related in scanning for malicious files? Been thinking of downloading these image texture baking programs like Awesomebump (directly from image, without having to sculpt) but I don't wanna get fucked in the ass just for some texture maps

start using common sense you fucking ngon.
virustotal is just a social validation tool, nothing more. do you think pozzers won't use it as well? why wouldn't they?
if you are afraid, get a separate, isolated machine - the one you can safely dump in case it does get fucked. only pull results out of it and treat it like aids box.
because it will be. guaranteed.
alternatively, just buy it or use free alternative. your choice.

If someone has access to a 0-day that is undetected by all malware scanning engines out there, they're not going to blow it on a niche program downloaded by 200 random third worlders with no money.
That said if you're paranoid, just use Sandboxie or a VM. Or, if you have access to the official installers, you can also install the vanilla program and then compare it with the cracked .exe in a hex editor to see what they changed. Nobody is going to put malware on your computer by replacing two bytes with a no-op.
