Ok, fags I attempted to recreate my dad in 3d through photogrammetry, and picreal is what i got. i used meshroom and 88 pictures of him from cell phone.

Should I have used a less busy background or fed it more pics?

you're doing it wrong. Should ideally be a plain background.

The reason why its so incomplete is because not enough pics + Not proper lighting

You need GREAT lighting and a lot of photos.
Then some luck.
I'd imagine trying to photo slightly moving object is a no no.

You need a rig with synchronized cameras and lighting. Pic related is the workable minimum.
Or you simply rent time on a professional rig.

you could look into DECA or similar systems (https://github.com/YadiraF/DECA)

basically use a few photos with DECA, grab the produced OBJs, average them, then transfer good topo over the averaged shape (with ZWrap or similar)

pic related is an experiment with it. I can't share the photos but the DECA output is reasonably close. of course a likeness sculptor, even a beginner one, could do it better. but for something that's automated, and requires only a few pictures, it's pretty good. it doesn't do textures that well, though

when things like this are not available, photos with the phone are better

In order to get better results at photogrammetry, you need to consider the following:

>Photographs taken from equally distributed angles, and also different distances
You did that, nice

>Avoid reflective surfaces
You did that, your dad doesn't glow in the dark (like CIA agents)

>Get good lighting environment
That's where it's harder for you. Doing photogrammetry inside a room can change the lighting a lot. Since there are little light sources (windows and lightbulb), depending where you are when taking a picture, your shadow can be casted on the objective, thing that affects the outcome. Also, the presence of reflective objects (like your TV screen) can affect the lightning.

Tips:
Do the same thing outside
Be sure that the focus of your camera has always the same settings (some cameras blur automatically for some reason, so you gotta change that on your settings)
