๐Ÿงต Can anyone pill me on DAZ?

Anonymous No. 855175

What the fuck it used for? Just posing, and that's it? Can you morph the face? Or you only get a specific set of unchangeable assets and locked set of actions?
Can you use the models commercially in the games? Can you export rigs?
I know it uses Octane to render, which is pretty good engine, but why tho? Just to pose premade model, and render it? Ho flexible or limited the software itself?

it's used for posing... as an artist

It started out intended as a artist aid to pose human figures as digital stand ins for physical models under the name "Poser".
It rapidly declined into softcore pornography faperware where horny loners could be exploited to spend big money on asset packs.

It's essentially a videogame where you LARP as a nudiemag photographer.

Is there like 3D nude models and exposed genitals assets, that you need to pay for inside DAZ?

>What the fuck it used for?
I would like to know too.

I'm currently making a environment in maya rendering it out in vray and I want realistic characters. I've used the tool 'makeHuman3D' which is the only procedural free character creation tool I can name out there.

Everyone said daz was the best out there, so I downloaded it, but as soon as I get to use it I need to login, then I need to download x package, then once you're in, you need to buy 'x' pack to get started. I don't even know where to start with this program honestly. I just want realistic characters! They dont even need to have proper faces, i'm going to put face masks over them anyway for more realism, given how my env is in Japan.

Is there like 3D models that let you create a clone of Minebloxamogusnite in the Unity asset store? The question you should be asking is "is there anything ELSE?"

Though to be fair there are also dresses and clothes, since the Daz userbase has an even split between women and the pedos/fetishists/Patreon scammers/creepy boomers.

Daz uses the "razor and blades" model, which means that you need to spend an average of $3800 in order to render an image (so everybody just pirates the fuck out of it).

1) Get the "Genesis 8 Starter Essentials" pack which is free and contains the base male/female sculpts used for everything
2) Search the store for the masks/hair/clothes/props you want to use
3) Optional: If you don't want to tweak/sculpt anything, find some figure presets as well (e.g. "Victoria 8.1")
4) Google the name of those assets with the keyword "free download" to find a blog with Mega links
5) Extract everything to your user library folder (look it up)
6) Use the content manager tab on the left to locate your assets
7) Add a figure to the scene and dress it up with the presets/morphs/clothes/peg leg/whatever you chose
8) Export the figure to Maya with the bridge since you won't be using Daz to render/animate/composite anything

What it provides is an asset store. Think of it as a glorified version of Turbosquid or CGTrader, which also comes with a free model viewer for beginners.

You know how in games with character creators, you sometimes have a bunch of presets you can click if you're too lazy to tweak the sliders yourself?

It's that, but they charge you $50 for it.

>Just posing, and that's it?
No, but mostly yes plus rendering.
>Can you morph the face?
Obviously.
>Or you only get a specific set of unchangeable assets and locked set of actions?
You can get that too if you want.
>Can you use the models commercially in the games?
Yes, if you choose to do so.
>Can you export rigs?
Obviously.
>Ho flexible or limited the software itself?
It's basically a digital doll software. It's all about not having to deal with all the technical stuff and just playing around with finished 3D assets. The program itself is pretty versatile BUT their business model relies on user created content meaning their stuff is only as complex as the vendors make it out to be. It has fur, cloth simulation, pose space deformation, Pixar's multi-resolution mesh detail thing, and so on. If you're a vendor be prepared to learn a ton of technical stuff. If you're a customer just double-click on the asset and you're good to go.

There is an argument for using DAZ as a base mesh tool for sculpts, the advantages are good topology and decent rig. So if you don't stray too much in the sculpt and maintain some of the silhouette you can cut the first part of the sculpting process and get to the result faster.

This video explains it better than I can: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oab3268dGC8

HOWEVER, skipping the initial stages of a sculpt only makes sense if you are not trying to master the skill of sculpting, there is no shortcut to learning anatomy and you are gonna be shit out of luck when modeling something that isn't based on a DAZ basemesh (monsters, some animals, etc...). This workflow is great for freelancers and small studios that can't afford to build a base mesh library spanning all sorts of options.

If you pay for the account that can hold this much. Free ones only get 20GB.

I think it is just a kitbash program for characters, mainly women. Some artists who have trouble drawing anatomy or poses, use it and trace their art. Daz itself is a cash grab site. You can dial a character to your liking and then export it to Zbrish or Blender or ehatever and then have fun.

Anonymous No. 856460

You can use it to generate references for your drawing or sculpting practice.
You can use it to render art
You can use it to generate clothed models for unreal/unity games, but this can be extremely costly if you do it legit.
And lastly and most importantly, you can use it to render porn/fapping material. I'd say that 80% of the users do this, based on deviantart "daz3d" tag.

It is a coomer software that can be used for many things. I personally use it to coom and port some quality models into my noncoomer unreal fight game. I do animations in blender for it.

Also I think that you can make some money using daz.
I don't know how one would become a seller in daz shop, but for example creating "pose pack" would be extremely easy and probably fast money if you could sell it in the store.
