Same. PS is S tier. Recently I was forced to install an old version on my x220 for travels (no openGL on the chip). All features I need were already in PS 10 years ago. I really wish there was competition. That online PS clone dicks gimp down so bad it's unreal, and that shit runs in a browser window...

pretty shitty and soulless company, who owns a couple of great programs, but unfortunately does not much with them.
Modo's user base is slowly shrinking, because the program stays stagnant and not much development is happening (which is a shame, it could be so much more!).
Nuke is mostly great (I have heard) and they put a lot of effort in, probably because its the industry standard in compositing (and their most popular program which brings them the most $$$).
Mari is nice, but suffers due to a very small dev-team, same applies to Katana, but the latter is even more niche.
All of their programs are expensive (you could say overpriced), they (as a company) are not really friendly to beginners and small customers, their license politics is shitty (especially the backend/servers) and they have a reputation for going hard after pirates, taking into account that they'll might hurt their own customers with their scatter-shot approach. I don't know if the latter is still true, since I never was a legit customer (I have a pirated version of Nuke and Mari).
>>856722
Its compatibly easy to crack and use their software (all you need is a cracked RLM license server running with the appropriate (cracked) licenses),
but their programs (especially Nuke) are filled with little spy-programs that phone home using windows services that can punch holes through most firewalls since they belong to the OS. So the risk or hardness when it comes to pirating is not the technical aspects of running the programs, but the risk of them coming after your ass after they find out you rip them off (which frankly they kinda deserve).
All of that can be avoided completely and easily by running their software on an offline workstation or at least with the rule of having your PC disconnected from the internet for the whole session you use their software.

>All of that can be avoided completely and easily by running their software on an offline workstation or at least with the rule of having your PC disconnected from the internet for the whole session you use their software.
the f****** forces you to pirate because they limit the features of their software in both the NC and indie versions, allowing for among other things, only 1080p resolution in NC, only 4k in indie, and only getting unlimited resolution after you spend 10k as well as not getting full scripting etc. Ridiculous and racist OUT OF THIS WORLD pricing that gatekeeps thousands of people across the world from getting into the industry
Anonymous at Fri, 15 Oct 2021 15:10:58 UTC No. 856755

nobody forces you to pirate. Not even circumstances - its fundamentally always your choice.
Also, lets be fair here, even towards a shitty company like Foundry: limiting features in NC and Indie version is normal business, if not done it would take away the incentive for people to buy the full product. People would use their NC version for commercial stuff, like I did use Mari NC for C despite the limitations.
>Ridiculous and racist OUT OF THIS WORLD pricing that gatekeeps thousands of people across the world from getting into the industry
If you frame it that way I am actually starting to think they are based and doing Gods work.
Look, I know its hard to swallow, but if you are a Nig-Nog born and raised in the swampy and stinking jungles of Botswana or a Gook roaming the bomb-crater and minefield infested hinterlands of Vietnam, taking up a job in the (international) entertainment industry just isn't for you.
Becoming a Doctor, Engineer or Electrician is much more benevolent for you, your health, your financial status and your community.
Hell, that even holds true for people in the first world. If I had followed my own advice, I would be more busy, less unhappy and more wealthy - for sure.
I don't know where you're from (and I don't care!) but you have first world problems...and you don't even have reasons to bitch and moan as I just told you how you can be an poweruser of all Foundry tools without their bloodthirsty lawyers even knowing that you exist. WTF is your problem?

No, its still fucking 2021 you retard, and the majority of new movies in cinema aren't filmed in 8K resolution while the post is rarely done in anything above 4K, if at all.
If Villeneuve can film Dune in 4K and be content with it while you bitch and moan about 8K, it is evident for everybody with a working brain that your demands and calculations are off.
Who the fuck needs to do Post/VFX in 8K and in what world is 8K an archaic resolution?
Yes, Foundry is greedy and you are massively entitled - both simultaneously, almost as if there was a relationship between those 2 states.

>No, its still fucking 2021 you retard, and the majority of new movies in cinema aren't filmed in 8K resolution while the post is rarely done in anything above 4K, if at all.
not my problem. 1080p NC is ARCHAIC. 4k indie _fucks your pipeline_ because you cant have images that are bigger than what you need giving you the options to trim and cut at a later time.
>Who the fuck needs to do Post/VFX in 8K and in what world is 8K an archaic resolution?
There are more resolutions than 8k, there is 6k, etc
>Yes, Foundry is greedy and you are massively entitled - both simultaneously, almost as if there was a relationship between those 2 states.

Again, if Hollywood can do with 4k, you sure you do need more? Rhetorical question, I know you don't.
Even if, you deliver special premium high resolution but you can't make decent bank with it?
Or are you using pixel resolution as a substitute for quality?
>I dont follow.
I believe you, after all I am talking about highly intellectual philosophical themes here that surely fly over your head.
>They are the gatekeepers
and I now believe that's a great thing in order to keep the unwashed and retarded masses out of the industry - thanks for changing my mind about the Foundry and their politics.
>and this is common knowledge.
So are options to crash the gate via cracks and take what you want.
But if you insist on staying morally superior or retarded, I advice you keep on bitching about it on an Transylvanian dental protheses forum until your face turns black (or white if you are already black).

Read the current edition of the 'Photoshop Bible' back to back. I did that once when I already had like 7 years of experience fucking around in PS.
It's a comprehensive guide that tells you everything you need to know to engage with every part of the software.
Just knowing what every part of the program is and what it was intended for arms you with tremendous capabilities to edit pixels.
Kinda was running circles around myself with what I gained from doing that.
