my 3d porn anims are finally really taking off and now I'm making 800 a month on patreon— could make more if I paywalled shit / did commishions, but whatever, I'm comfy and I mostly make the shit for myself because no one else was

You're right, I should stop doing fun porn and become a cog in a pipeline and focus on making small assets and proprs, epic as fuck!

A little over a year- would have honestly been sooner, but I took multiple long hiatuses (stopped for 3 months in 2020, then another 2 over this summer) but I've been posting pretty consistently as of late so my follower base and patrons have shot up. I think the most important thing is to try to be ambitious, and post everything, even if you think it's shit (within reason).

how were you able to get exposure initially? Did you mostly just use Twitter?

Anonymous No. 861352

>>857527
Find a niche. Every idiot can model and texture stuff. Learn how to optimize stuff for games, dive deep into rigging and shaders, procedural stuff... Stuff your normal artist doesn't have the nerve to do.

Anonymous No. 861355

>>861337
Do you use your own models? I would like to do this as I am more than capable of making quality animations but the amount of work massively increases when you have to make entire character models yourself.

Anonymous No. 861386

>>861349
I post on twitter, rule34.xxx, and DeviantArt. Early on, I'd also post to /aco/ and /gif/.

I don't think my stuff is very niche (anthros, futa on female typically), but I'm the only one doing it with the kind of characters I do. Having good quality work that looks finished is the most important thing.

>>861355
I make everything by myself. It was hard, but not insurmountable as I already had quite a bit of experience modeling and fucking around making things prior to starting.

I think the fact I'm doing it myself ties a little into the first anon's question about initial exposure. If you're doing your own thing, it's more unique. If it's unique enough, there's no alternative, so you become the only source that can get the attention. If I was just another Overwatch / DAZ pornographer or some shit, I don't think I would be doing as well— unless I did something even more niche, or had an even higher quality standard.

I'm thinking about just making characters with Vroid and sculpting all the porno bits myself to save time. Never used Vroid but it seems workable enough to easily create a good base character without much effort.

This is me right now.
I make coomer animations and I'm not sure how to monetize them, I don't want to do patreon as I'd feel obligated to release content at a steady rate. I also don't like the idea of people having to pay to see my work, I would prefer it to all be free but I've gotten messages from people on twitter wanting to donate.
What's a good way to get donations? cashapp/paypal? to be honest I don't need the money at all but having a little extra would be nice.

if you aren't willing to shit out content on regular, don't think you will ever make it.
Consistency is key, you can make the best stuff in the world but unless you do it on a regular schedule it doesn't matter.

I'm a NEET and do 3D stuff because I like it and enjoy it, the money aspect doesn't really interest me too much. Obviously it would be nice to make money from it, but I wouldn't get into something just for the sake of money. If I wanted that I could have gotten a regular job.
