Should I wait to buy any new hardware for 3d production until DDR5 arrives?

Nigger I downloaded Softimage 2015 just to learn on it and you're here waiting

I'm talking about hardware, not software

unless you can get ddr5 @ 6300 Mhz, is not worth upgrading, the performance is almost the same
basically, buy it if you can

They are basically saying this
>While DDR4 DIMMs top out at 3.2 gigabits per second (Gbps) at a clock rate of 1.6 gigahertz (GHz), initial DDR5 will deliver a 50% bandwidth increase to 4.8 Gbps. DDR5 memory will ultimately double the data rate of DDR4 DRAM reaching 6.4 Gbps
Now, how can you say the perf is the same? All the top tech people are saying its better in every way

All I know is ram jews are going to make sure it's not worth it financially.

I will have to replace my cpu and my motherboard and of course my ram, meaning i need to do a complete rebuild

My mistake anon I misinterpreted that. No I honestly wouldn't bother waiting.

again, do you have anything to back that up with? If I wait for 6 months, the new cpus and mobos and ram will be out and they will be incompatible with the previous gen meaning my upgrade path will be zero, even if i get todays top 5 cpu, it will be incompatible with ddr5 boards

techcucks will say anything for sponsors sales, the performance is almost the same, is not only the memory, but the integrations with processors and software, early adopters are the most cucked since they are lab rats that are testing new stuff

i read that getting an m.2 ssd and ddr5 ram gives next gen performance

Just bite the bullet if you need it. I grabbed a 3090 but realized 16gb of ram for a 24gb buffer is retarded, so I picked up a 32gb set. The best time to build a computer is always tomorrow anon, just fucking build the damn thing if you need it.

Do you use cycles with optix with the 3090 or redshift?
Anonymous at Tue, 26 Oct 2021 00:35:35 UTC No. 858282
>>857947
Yes. New CPUs are going to be significantly faster and you'll be left on a dead end platform if you buy something now.

Phones have been using DDR5 for almost 2 years now, it's probably pretty mature already.

Mainly cycles with optix, but rendering is one of the few things I haven't really experimented around with, just looking forward to cycles x implementation. Is redshift something I should look at as a character/creature modeler?

How can 3d fags spend all day on their computers and be see tech illiterate at the same time.
>>857947
No if you can even get current hardware you should, buying into first Gen pc hardware at top dollar is always a mistake, you're not a professional, don't spend like one..
>>858243
This anon is correct, the best time to build a computer always tomorrow, so stop having fomo about latest and greatest.
