I got Maya now but it's such a fucking headache to navigate. Do I really need a centered edge loop that will fuck up my model to be able to have symmetry?
I really feel like zmodeler is easier to use than this shit.

The only thing maya has against blender when it comes to modeling is the ease of retoplogy and the curves/nurbs. I use maya to retopologize models after turning then into live surfaces. If you got maya for modeling, you fucked up. If you absolutely need an autodesk product, get 3ds max

Maya strongest asset is the MEL and Python scripts, most of whats offered by default, Blender can do well too.
i suggest you better learn Zbrush, then do a Retopoly on Maya, thats how the industry basically works nowdays.
