Do you think Blender is bad for someone that's barely starting in 3D and why?

Anonymous No. 858507

>>858501
No, blender is great for begginers.

Most of the 3D concepts are independant of tool, like learning to model, having good topology, texturing, rigging, animation, etc.

You can practice and become good at the fundamentals and once you're good, you can try to learn more complex tools.

>texturing
blender doesnt even have texturing

Yes it does, it's just very, very bad.

its not industry ready and wont get you any jobs and will in fact hurt your chances if you apply anywhere

>>858501
No, it's fine unless you definitely know you want to specialize: If you only want to do character sculpting then it might be worth just going straight to zBrush in order to get over its utterly cancerous UI asap. Or if you wanna do only FX it might be worth jumping straight into Houdini to get over the deeper 3d logic hump asap. Same goes for Maya and character animation.

it depends, if you're a hobbyist is okay, but if you plan to become a wageslave, no

being familiar with industry standard software is a must if you want moneyrinos in a company

99% of /3/ is just hobbyist, and the only """employment""" they ever get, is freelance request. why is /3/ so desperate to be industry boot lickers when they'll never get close to those boots.

read again what I posted, faggot.

I said you can move later to better tools, retard.

No its not bad, it can be, but this depends on your requirements and what your goals are.
Just don't fall for the hype and use specialized tools in combination rather than believe the mindset that you should do everything in/with Blender.

The argument is based on quality, efficiency and feasibility. Taking the industry that operates under hard conditions with strong competition and financial incentive as an example proves these factors.
Its irrelevant if you actually work in the industry or not. Using the right tool vs a shitty tool can still make a huge difference in terms of quality, ability and efficiency.
I don't know you but I don't like to waste my time/effort and I don't like to work harder to get to an result just because I use a shitty tool. Lifetime is precious.
Working with subpar tools and working extra hard and use shitty workarounds makes me frustrated and kills motivation and fun.
Using hobbyism as an excuse for using shitty tools is kinda stupid. Just because you are satisfied with a low standard doesn't mean other hobbyists are. I certainly am not.
That being said, Blender isn't bad, its mostly good or good enough, except when it isn't. I use Blender but I know the strengths and weaknesses of most tools and know how to optimize my workflow for quality and efficiency.

Yea, but i never see pixar levels of shit from the "industry" users. just stuff you would be able to make in almost anything else, whilst also getting payed less for their work than some guy who exclusively uses SFM.

not op but i'm am absolute newfag
is there a place we use to torrent addons and models for blender?

So what? Anecdotal evidence and selection bias is all you get here.
>post your industry work.
Why? Judging ability, quality and efficiency of an tool by the end result of random artists is in general a stupid idea.

I wanna learn Blender but I don't know what I want to learn it for, does that make sense?

how come blenderfags are the only ones posting work and industry keks always are posting random twitter industry quotes?

Should they be able to easily BTFO blenderfags if industry tools were better?

No, I'd say it's bretty good. I've just about hit my first year with bloonder (3d generally) and just finished picrel.

>>858731
I've seen a few cool models here, but those are always reposts from artstation or insta or whatever. The few that were amazing probably disappeared with old breads. WIP thread is always fun tho.

they aren't, but they seem to be the majority here
>Should they be able to easily BTFO blenderfags if industry tools were better?
No, because this is a stupid question based on a retarded assumption.
AGAIN, YOU cannot judge a tool by looking at random end results!
Its delusional to think that you can derive any meaningful data by observing the results and interactions of random people on /3.
You can however learn and use them and then compare and judge them, like I did. Subjective, but meaningful.
Or you observe their qualities in an free market environment and use proper statistics to derive meaningful data.
Everything else is magical thinking.

>blender average anon is proven by their results
>industry tools results are proven by magical wishfull thinking and billion dollar teams
>OP ask about being a begginer
ok retard.

I feel like muh industry fags are just more concerned about looking professional than actually making anything worth a shit.
