>so it's uhhh like fbx
>but you can be distracted by coworkers doing shit in your viewport while you're trying to work

shared realtime 3D viewport can be really great after the mandatory "placing random dicks everywhere while giggling like retards"-phase. after that you can create really great environments together, provided you work with people who know what they're doing and you're at the same level too.

Working while holding a conversation at the same time? We've tried pair programming already, it fucking sucks. Sign me the fuck OFF. The people pushing this "collaborative" chitchat cancer in the workplace should be gassed.

I can't even listen to music while I work, and in my experience far fewer people are capable of this than would admit.

Yeah I still have no fucking clue what it's supposed to be. It doesn't help that their official videos explaining what the fuck it is can't even manage to do that. I doubt they even know.

It does literally nothing. You install it to a server, and then you install their plugin to compatible software on a client. You can then export projects in .usd format to the server (aka export), and then other clients can update in .usd format from the server (aka reference). They have what they call live editing which is just it auto-exporting and auto-referencing at short, fixed intervals, and what they call a shared workspace when multiple clients do this with the same project at once. The reason it's compatible with so many software because it does basically nothing but script existing features of these softwares, and the reason nobody has done it before is because shared workspaces is a dumb fucking idea. There's also an nvidia proprietary 3d editing/viewing package included that works with the network but nobody will give a shit because it won't be industry-level.

Also they have an absolute mountain of marketing language because they misconstrue the featuresets of participating software packages as features of omniverse. It seems like an utterly cynically blatant attempt to steal money from tech illiterate industry boomers and californian trust fundies.

Sounds like a blue-collar job if you can't be listening to music. I've been working in animation for over 20 years and never have I not been able to listen to my own music while working.

I once tried working on a 3D model while voice chatting and I basically just moved one vertex around for two hours
