So in a few years everything will be created in engine.

yeah, in unity. So glad I picked the right side.

Innovation no longer exists today, we are in a state of perpetual decay where the only new things happening in the industry are boomers cashing out their billion dollar companies to globo homo while the updates we get to software are in the licensing department as the world moves towards a pay to rent model.

Unity will treat it the same way they did with ECS. This is just to impress their stockholders

>Unity is currently in the process of memory holing all their ECS content
Shit sucks 99% of it barely works anymore, I can't believe I had faith in them, never fucking again.

wait what? can i get a QRD? i thought ecs was their next thing and everything was moving in that direction...(but last time i used unity was a couple years ago)

WetaM was neat because it was tools for something people already use that weta already made, weta don't use unity they used unreal last time they showed off their real time stuff so what exactly is the goal here.

It's not like it's impossible to integrate weta real time tech into Unity, it afaik runs on C++ under the hood anyway, tech that Unity needs so it won't fall too far behind UE5 sims and vfx. Too bad Unity is a clusterfuck of features and tools, half broken, half baked at times.

How long until all of Weta's tools end up in a weird deprecated but without any planned replacement limbo?

They're doing a big refactor of the engine and as a result ECS doesn't work in the latest releases

I get the feeling that if they didn't have 5 different versions of the engine to maintain they'd be in a much better place now.

>Weta Digital’s pipeline represents the most complete toolchain for 3D creation, simulation, and rendering ever created.

There's going to be a very high demand for pipeline TD's because of this acquisition. This is great for me.

>metaverse

This was embarassing enough when secondlife tried it.

Just like vr, normies will dip their toes into it, find it incomprehensible, and vanish.

I don't even know what weta is but I know it's going to die.
Is it some sort of in engine modelling and sculpting software.

If they're so secure why don't they go open source, huh?

Weta is Peter Jackson's VFX house. They did the VFX for a bunch of big films including LOTR and Avatar.

I'd sell my own mother for that kind of money, but yeah...that's the end of Weta because all this nonsense is doomed to fail.

I was wondering what Unity would do in response to Epic working closely with ILM for their productions.
This is very promising
