I cant betray my morals.

Sorry chuds, can't use propietary tools.
Will use only FOSS tools on linux and make my own using only Free and Open Source Software.

I know it will be harder, but It will be worth the effort.
I just need to get better at 3D, using only blender, armor paint and material maker and asset forge and kenshape.

Reminder companies literally don't care about individual user piracy, in fact probably like it as it increases their userbase. They want their software package to be used in large corporate settings with 50+ enterprise licenses

Not the same. They're still proprietary regardless of the OS.

Anon, I'm not a fundamentalist.

I'm ok with propietary tools as long as they have linux ports and are affordable.

Multiple factors.

I like linux and I dont like windows because is slow as fuck, my Vega 8 driver dies on windows and windows 10 is now filled with adware and I think windows is basically a spyware/malware OS by now.

I dont want ads on my PC.
So there's that.

But besides, I love FOSS, on moral grounds and because FOSS most of the time supports linux, is a nice marriage.
Besides, FOSS is free/cheap and runs faster, isnt BLOAT as fuck and can get the job done.

I find a nice challenge to learn that I can do 99% of the things propietary fags do, with just free software on linux.
Sure, is not easy, but is mostly because I usually dont know XY thing can be done with XY FOSS features.

So is mostly about discovering and learning my own personal workflow.
Also the fact It's a personal challenge, I want to be the guy everyone points to when people wanna talk about FOSS tools making quality AAA game graphics on godot/blender.

>I like linux
me too
>I dont like windows because is slow as fuck
considering the amount of time I have spent getting linux on feature parity with windows I come to the conclusion that Linux is even slower as fuck if I take into account the effort and manual labor I have to put in myself.
Windows might be slower in certain disciplines (>5%), but it can do stuff without hand-holding, my time is more precious than the minimal amount of electricity my PC needs more to get to the same result.
>I dont want ads on my PC.
Me neither, that's why I use an Enterprise version of Windows 10 with the desired effect: no advertising.
>So there's that.
exactly
>I love FOSS, on moral grounds
Me too, but my disdain for the slavery of people by commercial companies makes me enjoy the fact that I can fuck them over and derive them of profit by pirating their tools and enjoying the best of both worlds - better tools, while not paying the abusers.
>Besides, FOSS is free
just like my free permanent licenses of commercial (subscription) software.
>and runs faster
Not necessarily true, but also irrelevant since I can get better results faster
>isnt BLOAT as fuck
More functionality = bigger program, also who the fuck cares, terabytes of disk-space is much cheaper than hiring a callgirl for an hour.
>and can get the job done.
except when it can't, which is very often, but you don't realize it because you are doing primitive low level shit.
>Sure, is not easy
Its actually much harder.

>I find a nice challenge to learn that I can do 99% of the things propietary fags do, with just free software on linux.
The actual number is more like 65% with the caveat of having to put much more work in yourself. Your thinking that it is 99% is simply because of the fact that you don't know shit about the actual possibilities of these programs and how the various 3D industries work.
>Also the fact It's a personal challenge
Do you expect admiration for being such an tough guy and making it needlessly harder on yourself?
Or for being "morally" superior?
That's kinda delusional, you won't get any, only mockery when failing, which is just a matter of time.
But if you never start you can't fail, right?
>I want to be the guy everyone points to when people wanna talk about FOSS tools making quality AAA game graphics on godot/blender.
Talking about delusional....
Nobody gives a shit about FOOS tools making quality AAA game graphics on godot/blender....Really, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY CARES.
Despite that, what makes you think you are able to do that?
You are simply not and never will be, because you are an untalented hack who spends to much time being obsessed with FOSS and the moral superiority derived from it.
If you where even vaguely talented and dedicated you would have been able to show something that makes people excited, but you are just a crazy dude who blabbers on and on about FOSS tools.
Show don't tell.

Well, Again, I dont need AAA features because I'm not making an AAA game, I'm not a retard.

What I mean is that I want to push my skills, even if I have shit tier tools, just for the mere challenge.
It's a self impossed challenge.

I feel I havent even reached the full limit of suchs tools, and clearly they're much more capable than industry tools.

My goal again is a 1 man army game, but I want to do something impressive and not default to another 2D pixel garbage or memepoly.

I wanna do something as close as AAA as my tools and my skills allow me.
But I feel good, there's still plenty of space left to improve.

At this point it's simply cheaper to keep getting gud at my FOSS tools instead of starting from scratch with something like houdini.

Honestly man, I think your challenge is just dumb and a waste of time. Nobody will care if you use FOSS tools or not. Use whatever you want, but your challenge should be just to get good as an artist and you should use whatever tool gets you the best results. One day you will see the limitations of your current tools. At that point just don’t be stubborn and just switch to “industry standard” ones instead. They are standard for a reason.

>It's a self impossed challenge.
And I am telling you it is stupid and unproductive because its based on some arbitrary value that doesn't stand in relation to artistic expression itself nor productivity. You'll get NOTHING back for it, the payoff is an illusion.
>much more capable than what I can do with industry tools
So you feel that you are not good with industry tools because you don't know them/lack experience?
There is your realistic and productive challenge - overcome this problem and you're doing yourself a huge service, you can still mix and match your tools and use FOSS tools based on productivity.
I am using Blender myself, but I am not shooting myself in the foot with a 50cal by ignoring Houdini or Maya or Substance or whatever else there is when I can profit from their advanced productivity, because I know this is helping me tremendously.
Its not even about the final quality, I can do great looking stuff with Blender alone, but it would take me longer, ergo I would waste my precious lifetime. By optimizing workflows I can do more, the challenge is to minimize the effort and maximize the end result and this is valuable and recognizable.
You have been warned and educated.
If you insist on your special brand of retardation, why don't you be a retard somewhere else and spare us your nonsense?

It's being a bigger fish in a smaller pond.

It will be easier for the FOSS comunity to shill me, like they shill pablo, because there's not a lot of high level skilled artists on FOSS tools.

Most skilled artists will default somehow to industry tools.
But again, my own self imposssed challenge is to use only linux FOSS tools, or just cheap itch.io linux tools.

I'm not againts buying software, and I've bought like 100 bucks of linux itch.io tools, the point of the challenge is to make the closest I can to AAA using the cheapest budget I can.
Using pirated software would be cheating my challenge.

I think it would be easier to be that FOSS weirdo guy the FOSS comunity shills, and easier for me to get marketed as the AAA Godot expert than being another unity/unreal AAA middleware industry wagie.

>It will be easier for the FOSS comunity to shill me
nobody will do that, you suffer from delusions.
>there's not a lot of high level skilled artists on FOSS tools.
I wonder why? Also you are NOT a high level skilled artist, you're far from it.
>easier for me to get marketed as the AAA Godot expert
another one of your delusions, first there is no AAA on Godot and second even if it where possible, you're not an expert and probably never will be.
Go on, humour me, show me something impressive if you think you are any of that...I am waiting, but we both know it'll never happen.
