For anyone that's going to be doing FLIP or pyro all the time, anything less than 256GB is going to limit you sooner or later. Even that you can easily exceed, but you start getting enterprise hardware for capacities beyond that, which gets expensive.

Memory is comparatively cheap now and you should max out your board. I updated to a 128 GB DDR4 quad kit by Corsair running on a Pro WS W480-ACE + Xeon W-1290P. It's a bundle I snatched from Mindfactory.
The memory was around 150% the price of the MB.

Sad thing is... I did some very passable sims with RF in 2006 on a Pentium D with 3GB for a number of food commercials(client: Mueller dairy products).

Today my Windows sits idle at 3GB without doing anything. Software developed has become kinda bloated, has it?
