I think it's the best way to mix 2d and 3d and it's pretty easy to get into. Even if you're just using it for 2d it's a great drawing software

Most of that scene is 3D models.
Have fun trying to model anything like this, 3D is literally rape if it comes to learning. Not because it is hard, its because literally no one will teach you the really important stuff, not for free that is.

Oh and the interface is unintiutive in every 3D aplicatin.

Dedouze uses grease pencil like that and afaik he's the only one who's taken it in that particular direction. He has tutorials on Youtube about how to do it. It's kind of a pain in the ass.
