That's not all. Your GPU needs to support the recent OpenGL versions or current Blender won't work. I guess you're using some pre 2015 laptop or something.

The 'Noise Threshold' setting in rendering is amazing, first I rendered using the Samples setting, the difference in speed between 3.0 and 2.93 was ~30%, which is good but not as good as I expected.
But by enabling 'Noise Threshold' at the default 0.0100 setting, I got a ~52% performance increase, with no visual difference in the final render.

Can confirm, Maya was the first thing I learned. All my CGI friends stated with Maya. We were hardcore snubs who would shit on Blender. Fast forward a couple of years. Every single one of us is using Blender and not looking back. Maya charging close to 5k every 3 years for bug support and most of their features are trying to catch up to Blender. Examples: Evee view port, Nodes, Material BSDF. Maya is a corporate joke and Blender is free.
Suicide watch is an understatement!

2.) "Wow! That's a lot of programs! Which one is best? I heard ______ is best."
You heard wrong, there is no one program that is better than the rest, it has and always will be the skill level of the artist. Which program you choose is solely dependent on your own personal taste and which aspect of the 3D industry you want to be involved in.
Max and Maya are the most hyped and so therefore the most used, they have the most available documentation online. The interfaces have a steep learning curve, but there isn't any 3D program you can't learn if you take the time to use it and follow some tutorials. Go with a generalized package, not a specialist one.

By all means use whatever you think is best or whatever your job forces you to use but if you personally pay 5k every 3 years for Autodesk when Blender does everything that program does for free and has better technology and features then youre a retard.
Also Phong Blinn and Lambert are not programs theyre basic materials that Maya used until recently when Blender implemented BSDF with Nodes and Maya was still on the stone age with their ancient viewport and materials shuffling their feet around like Fred Flinstone.
