I can't quite put my finger on it. It's like when 2D had sovl and then they started to make those glorified flash animations full of calarts and they went full sovlless. But with the 3D we never had that sovl part. I want to say something like Toy Story is, but I don't think that really counts because the designs were all/mainly based on existing products.
Disney is by far the worst though. People complain about the uncanny valley, but Disney have tried to translate their original classic cartoon designs into 3D and it looks atrocious.

The problem isn't the medium it's the people. 3D is soulless just like modern 2D is soulless because 90% of animators, 2d or 3d are just bugmen who were handed an art degree because they achieved technical proficiency in using the tools that they were required to learn in order to create soulless products. People complaining wah it's a commercial miss the point completely; yeah it's a commercial, but it's not like the studios that produce this slop make anything better than that. This soulless garbage is what they crank out whether it's a commercial for fucking grub hub or a feature film. It's the result of an art form being turned in to an industry and filled with worker bees and businessmen in suits bossing them around, both of whom acquired their skillsets by rote memorization and neither of whom were ever required to display an ounce of creativity to get where they are.
