๐Ÿงต Why do you even do 3d

Anonymous No. 868802

I got into 3d in middle school, because i wanted to do something "creative", but after some time and a job in the industry i completely switched to drawing and lost all interest in modeling. All my friends who work as 3d artists don't like it either l and want to switch to 2d if they could, but jobs there are harder to get. What keeps you interested in 3d? Good animated traditional animation will look just as good in 100 years, while a good animated 3d animation will look outdated in 10-20.

If the 3D animation is trying to be photorealistic, and is held back by technical limitations, then yeah, duh.

I think stylized 3D unhindered by technical limitations can be just as timeless as traditional animation

The retards here on /3/ will still masturbate over that shitty animu game in 50 years, granted we all make it that long.

Because good 2d animation is pretty much impossible for a single person to do in any decent volume.

And 3D is ? (legit question)

Id say so. If youd want to animate a 10 second clip in any reasonable quality youd have to draw at least 120 consistent drawings. Thats a shit ton of work for one person for something so short. You could animate that in 3D in a quarter of the time.

never heard of key frames? I've studied 3D animation and am studying 2D animation (Dunno how I started 3D before 2D but whatever) and so far it's the same as far as animating goes, except one has 2 dimensions and the other has 3 and takes forever to render.

9/10 times turning a 2d image into a mesh looks like shit though. Id say 10/10 but there are some animation studios who have pulled it off well with background assets.

I just like the demoscene and late 90s/early 2000s game aesthetic. Second Reality will never stop being awesome:
