A low poly character idling in a test render can look great, but it's so hard to make good game-ready animations. For me at least. The low poly count puts in place too many extra hurdles that crop up when you start to do the kind of exadurated poses a hero mesh requires.

Btw, what is the best way low poly way to do this middle spot between the legs? ( I'm thinking this is necessary for the character to be able to split his legs when animated, I might be wrong )

Almost nothing is 'necessary' if you're willing to use shape keys/helper bones. You're on the right track for getting good results without them, though.

Are you going to subdiv the front of the legs? If not, why do you have two faces on the inside of the legs, but only one of the front? Bad economy of geometry.
