My Maya.env file is not working at all. In C:\Users\user\Documents\maya\2022\Maya.env I set the path to the plugin, but when I start maya and type
>getenv MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH;
in script editor my edits simply are not there. It just has the default paths. What should I do?

Additionally, when I go to bookmark a folder in the "Open" dialog it will not save and show up again after I restart maya.

i have tried to delete and remake my preferences in C:\Users\user\Documents\maya, but there was no difference in the plugin path / maya.env behavior - only the bookrmarking was fixed by doing this.
