Is the 3D modeling and 3D art industry going mainstream?
What are the ramifications for us? More jobs? More competition/saturation?

Good for him. I imagine there are a lot of butthurt and jealous people that are going to say anything to boost their egos and trying to tear him down while at the same time showing they are useless with their work and going nowhere with their life.

who

why does it sound as if Beeple is presenting a new product to a potential investor?

Anonymous No. 870459

Because he's excited about it (who wouldn't be in his shoes?) like someone who's presenting to an investor pretends to be, but also because he wants to promote NFTs as a whole because he has a very obvious horse in the race.

It already is mainstream. Anyone can download blender and make some stylized low poly crap or sculpt some shit. Like any industry though, becoming a pro at it takes years of commitment.

Yes. More people have an understanding of 3D graphics than ever before because 3D is everywhere nowadays.

>more people
Doesn't mean enough people for reaching "mainstream" status (which I'm defining as something that's common to get into and pursue as a job)

>because 3D is everywhere nowadays
Lots of things are everywhere. Doesn't make them mainstream.
In fact, most people have known about 3D graphics for many decades now but I wouldn't say that the field of 3D modelling was mainstream in the 80s, since relatively few people actually worked with 3D software.

But I think we're just discussing about semantics and what being "mainstream" actually entails.

You forgot the crucial 4th step
>continue doing things to make yourself even richer despite you having enough money that your great, great grandchildren will never need to work.

With 69 million?

No, I wouldn't. I would never fucking work again. I would be in a mansion in south america with armed guards and a harem of teenage prostitutes just like John MacAfee was.

Damn you must be poor af. You'll burn through all of your money in 5 years tops. There's a reason every rich person has to invest.

Easy to say now that you're poor and those millions would make a huge difference, but when you're that rich you start thinking about what you can do and what you can't, and if you want to finance some big projects you need tons of cash.
Think of the hundreds of millions Kanye made in his career and yet a few years ago he was 80M in debt because he wanted to do all these projects that burned through his fortune.
If you're an artist, wouldn't you want to have the ability to make your ideas reality without worrying about the cost? You'd be stupid not to, if it's so easy for you to make all the cash you need.

Anonymous No. 873448

>>873447
Yeah that's a good point. I wouldn't want to make more money for the sake of it, but I would want more for projects I truly care for.

You are forgetting the part where I have zero ambition whatsoever.

Maybe that can change if you find yourself 100M+ richer and almost anything you can think of becomes possible.
