๐งต Will the Metaverse mean a world of opportunities for us?
Anonymous at Wed, 15 Dec 2021 09:54:16 UTC No. 869957
Or it will actually be the opposite? Next year Facebook and a handful of other companies will be releasing their own metaverses (for those who don't know, its like a revamp of Secondlife but with livestreaming and current gen 3D tech)
On one hand, I want to think this means there will be a demand of 3D artists and technicians to come up with assents and content, but in the other hand I've seen the names of the entities financing the metaverse stuff: facebook, bloomberg, goldman 'n sachs. Knowing how those people are, chances are, the average independent 3D creator won't be allowed to sell skins/assets unless they're on a privileged list of authorized sellers. See where I'm pointing at? This is what they've been doing in the shadows.

'The metaverse' is not going to happen.
Normies are never ever going to be interested in it for more than 5 minutes.

Have you watched the youtube ads in the last 4 weeks? Even the bubblegum ads are showing people wearing VR googles, as if they're grooming normies into accepting this will be their future soon enough

What do you think? For one the possibilities of avatar making are going to be neutered compared to say VRChat or Second Life
>ib4 Twitter
https://twitter.com/TRF_Stories/sta
>Your videogame character avatar infringes copyright law, can't have that
>No no , lolis are forbidden
>You want to use a Hitler avatar? And one from Wolfenstein on top of that? That's going to be a doble ban
And so on, they'll probably end up regulating rainbow coloured avatars to avoid seizures.
Also the current avatars look like normie shit, because it is for normies. So likely the community/modding involvement is probably going to be 0.
As such don't expect to be more valuable than a pajeet that can shit out bottom of the barrel assets faster than his dinner on a designated street and likely three times cheaper.

Have you ever been outside. These VR things are always ignored in shopping malls.
Boomers sre too tech illiterate, millenials are too poor to afford it and zoomers have too low attention span to spend more than 15 mins in it

The metaverse isn't even gonna use man-made avatars, they're all gonna be like this

Then how zoomers get those in the first place if their milennial parents are too poor to afford them?

It already is
Booth.pm and VRChat, many pay good money for somebody who can create an avatar foe them. Sometimes it's just some kitbashing and simple weight paint for easy money.
Have a look at booth.pm, and search for VRChat to see what 3D models people make money off.

Did the trucker shortage mean better pay for truckers? No, it meant a big industry-wide recruitment drive to cause a stampede of deadbeats to flood the market, keeping labor cheap.

And look into Vket, which is an exhibition event for models in VRChat. Even you could submit your content to it. This shit is growing every year.

the initial offering for 2022 vr glasses will be $3000 at apple's debut. if youre looking solely at social media, look at the bigger picture only the rich will afford that. mom and pop, which is everyone else wont be buying shit
