Don't send your file or finished work over until you have payment or else you'll get screwed over

My advice is to diversify. Don't just sell on CGTrader. Put your stuff on Artstation, Unity Asset Store, and Unreal Marketplace. Make sure your stuff is compatible or easily adaptable to a given engine. I know Substance Painter has Unity and Unreal export presets, for example. Good luck.

Sell the work on CG trader. You might as well make something from it.

What do you use to receive the payment? Paypal? Venmo? I heard with Paypal they can take their money back

social media will be your best friend, share your work and follow other artists. as you improve they will start to pay attention. then you'll get requests in your messages and then you can start negotiating for higher prices. this takes years but that's been my experience.
consider instagram and twitter a social portfolio!

in my experience i can get jobs without any social media presence at all. All you have to do is look for work on polycount

What are you selling on cgtrader? Also never do freelance without a signed contract and 25% up front, that's how you get paid.
