I think he's an amazing marketing guy. He knows exactly what nerds and geeks want, and those people have money.

As an artist, he's a great visual technician.
I don't think he ever made something significantly interesting. Although he does create a lot of shit - it's always pandering to some fanbase and it's never original.

He's one to top 3D modelers of the world, has an amazing work ethic and his wife is hot as fuck and probably gives amazing head and rides like an assault helicopter, but dude has yet to create something of his own other than a fanbase of fanbases. All luck to him, though. If someone can do it, it's probably him.

He does original art all the time if you've looked at this zbrush streams and courses, but his fan art gets the most traffic. Fan art gives the most visibility because a majority of people prefer to consume established properties instead of experimental ones that htey can't relate to. Fan art is the best and easy way for both creators and consumers to see your work.

Even on imageboards 99% of anons post fanart, not original art.

I envy and admire his skill, no doubt about it. But this observation does not make my previous comments any less relevant, nor does it mean that I could do any better than him. The original GoWs were somewhat of a gritty love letter to peplum films (mainly Jason and Clash of titans) specially in the design department to the point they even include the fucking skeletons ala Harryhausen in some levels of GoW II and III.This is not only me talking out of my ass but the actual devs did say that they borrowed elements from those kinds of movies.
