You can make expensive polished AAA graphics with blender and crappy cris shit tier graphics with Industry tools.
The diference between industry and blender amateurs and pros is not your tool, but your art skills.
And yes, 99% of /3/ wont make anything complex, so it doesnt matter what tool they use.
And for the 1%, they usually can find a blender workaround using addons that can produce 99% of the same end result.

No, actually, tool does matter. Blender may not have existed back then, but let's pretend it did: if Square had made the backgrounds to Final Fantasy 7 on Blender 3.0, their would have gotten the work done at least twice as quickly. I'm old enough of a fart to remember using Alias PowerAnimator (the tool that Square used for making the backgrounds and FMVs in FF7) in college assignments and I can tell you, its UI fucking blows donkey dick. ALL 90s-era 3D software was a chore to use; just because artists were "used to it" does not justify the fact itself. Usability of a UI -- and not to mention a program's robustness in terms of not-crashing and not corrupting your work due to bugs in the software -- absolutely matter. Getting a project done within a deadline is important in this line of work.
So, yes cris, the tool absolutely matters. You're the only tool who does NOT matter.

I would agree with you there. I downloaded the windows port on IRIX forums and uploaded it to "archive dot org" website. I only used it just last year after getting curious. I'm curious to know why you thought the UI was so bad?

Are you forgetting 3DS Max? It came out in 1995-1996 and has one of the best UIs to this day.
