Anonymous No. 873429

Depressing and boring city filled with soulless bots, running at 30 fps with a blur that gives you a headache after 2 minutes.

the time of crisp graphics were over the day deferred rendering was invented

Anonymous No. 873468

ELI5 what does deferred rendering have to do with it and what's the problem with graphics today? What is not crisp? I assume it's something other than PP effects like motion blur and chromatic aberration?

Anonymous No. 873477

>>873468
not him, but deferred rendering basically lacks any proper anti-aliasing due to ways it works. all you can do is just render at higher res and downscale.

outside post-processing like fxaa and so on, of course. which make things only worse

>realistic environmental graphics
>larger scale
>humans that dont look incredibly off
you have to pick two, we still don't have enough power to do all of them consistently on consumer hardware.

i think theres a lot of really ugly people out there and 'the industry' wont acknowledge this. Just look at what is possible with metahuman vs the stark differences to this apparent in everyday people like at a grocery store

the only value in pursuing realism is technical accomplishment, it looks like bland dogshit and is artistically limiting

i was thinking more towards the uncanny valley and how we likely aren't going to be able to fully escape it for a while still, but you may be onto something with media portrayal

Anonymous No. 873546

>>873544
I think if you were to escape the uncanny valley, in addition to facial ugliness, you would find that most of the adult population are overweight (in the wrong places) or just ancient, practically skin and bones.

why ain't the fat woman casting any shadows? wtf is wrong with the base of the garbage can in the sunny side?

Anonymous No. 873558

Those are metahumans. Of course you can make it look better and optimize. I think this came out as a tecnhical demo and nothing else. Better to get this out quickly to show what the engine is capable of. Let the artists making stuff take more time and they can make some really incredible things with this tech.

>Depressing and boring city
So basically what they intended when designing the city? Some of you should differentiate between artistic style and realism and shut the fuck up.
